Exceptionally slow install?

Post » Fri Mar 28, 2014 8:00 am

I did not participate in the beta. I just pre-ordered and am downloading it now, on my Mac. It was at 12% when I went to bed. It is now 12 hours later, and has gotten all the way to 13%.

Something is not right here. I have never seen anything like this. Do I need to open up specific ports on my router?

Not sure. I'm downloading around 45-50 mobs a second. I did have to stop and restart. After that it was smooth sailing. The entire 6 gigs took about 20 minutes.

yea you shouldn't be downloading that slow, although... you ARE on a mac. Take this opportunity to buy a PC.

I would suggest doing a ping to their servers and see what you get. Something maybe happening in between but sadly I don't have the address offhand. If you are on wireless then move the laptop right next to the router or better, use a wired Ethernet connection just while you get it downloaded.

I am wireless, currently do not have the option for wired. I wish I knew their server address to ping it, because nothing else I am doing on the Interweb is that slow.

The download is about 30GB ish. What's your ISP download speed? You can always pause it, go to speedtest.net and try out your connection and then restart it.

I was getting really slow download speeds until the last launcher update, since then it's been pretty quick. Like someone else said earlier took me about 20 minutes to patch.

Yes, I have run that. My speed is just fine. My speed downloading this game is abysmal.

And patcher.elderscrollsonline.com resolves to 23.204.108.34 and .35, that 24.140 number is my ISP.

I'm updating on another system and hitting my 30Mb/s speed limit. So guessing a choke point somewhere you link.

It varies. I found it starts off great at around 50MB then went down to 2MB. I paused it then restarted it a minute or 2 later and it was back to 50MB. It can just vary a lot at times.

Funny how I say that and now when I pause and restart it, I am getting 2mb/s downloading. But I cannot get anything higher than that.

Yea so I was not going bonkers. This afternoon the download started getting faster and faster, and is now finally installed. Of course I can't play it yet, but at least it is finally installed.
