Error 104 - Not enough space!

I am trying to prepare for this Sunday having played the BETA tests successfully I just wanted to make sure everything was patched ahead of time as advised by ESO. I have played on the NA server and have a 30 GB file marked "Elder Scrolls Online" in the Zenimax Program folder. I also have a 23GB "Elder Scrolls Online EU" folder there.

I wanted to make sure the EU file worked but I got the Error 104 - not enough disk space free up 60GB of space message!!

I thought I would trick the launcher by taking out the EU folder and renaming the NA folder with the EU name ie"Elder Scrolls Online EU" as has been suggested on other forums and even been confirmed as acceptable by ESO Support.

Initially I got to the point where instead of "PLAY" or "INSTALL" I got "REPAIR" and thought it would just patch across the missing EU bits. Before I clicked "REPAIR" I thought I would copy the full NA folder to a hard dirve for safety in case I couldn't go back.

When I went to the launcher again It didn't give me the "repair" button only the "INSTALL" and then the usual 104 Error message!!

So I put everything back as it was and now it won't recognise the existence of the NA folder - 104 Error again.

ESO Support have given me numerous replies - none of which answer the question, namely Why? and What to do? They seem to imply that it will be OK when the servers are up and running - which is leaving things too late if I need to download everything again, but why does this happen and why don't they rewrite the launch software to avoid these worrying messages if there is no problem really?

i'm not convinced the client is that solid yet....my advice; do a clean install for the launch if you can. uninstall then registry clean reboot, download and install .

I had the same issue yesterday but repair fixed it for me. Your safest best might be to do what leggit suggested. I think there is still enough time to download and be ready for early access.

The us and EU are the same files just cut and paste in the folder you want, been doing that since the EU/US split.

I've also ballsed up my installation - and found the Launcher incredibly lackluster in helping the issue.

  • I had The Elder Scrolls Online EU folder all working perfectly. So I copied it, and pasted into the same folder, deleted "EU - Copy" from it's name and was left with a second folder called The Elder Scrolls Online.
  • I then opened the launcher, switched it to North American, closed it, and reopened it. Sadly it didn't seem to see my new folder, and only had the option of Install.
  • So I just went -meh, I'll just keep EU. However at this point I made the mistake of actually deleting my The Elder Scrolls Online EU folder, not the NA one without the "EU" affix.
  • Opened launcher, changed back from NA server to Eu Server. Closed it reopended it - nothing As i'd accidentally deleted my EU folder it was now pointing at. Bah, closed the launcher.
  • I then just added EU Affix to my The Elder Scrolls Online folder as, remember it WAS an EU folder, exact copy, just renamed. So I was just calling it what it was originally - The Elder Scrolls Online EU.
  • Opened the launcher and it couldn't see it though, only the option to install. Not even repair. I think this was VERY bad on the launcher part as the folder had the exact same name and contents.

So I'm having to completely redownload the whole client again :S As I said, mostly in part due to my own messing, but I think it's incredibly bad that the launcher couldn't recognise that every thing was already there in the folder, and offer some sort of repair or validation tool.
