hello all

can someone tell me why in Skyrim V I do not have any followers ( I have asked them all) and yet when I ask a companion or any of my followers by being a Thane they all tell me that i have someone following me already????? I cannot resolve this.

Sounds like either your save is bugged or you accepted a follower and they are stuck in the wilderness somewhere.

Did you recently have a follower and ask them to wait somewhere? If so, they still take up your follower 'slot'. I think they'll wait for ~3 days before giving up and going home(or where ever they hang out). Also sometimes a follower won't leave a cell like they're supposed to. I had Serana hanging out in a cave entrance once. I had to go back in and leave it again for her to follow me.

If that's not the case, you run into some glitch and I'm not sure anything can be done about it. Maybe reload an earlier save. Worst case scenario is start a new character.
