Skyrim civil war lore problems?

Post » Sun Mar 30, 2014 5:04 am

So I was thinking about possibilities for TES VI and I was wondering, how (if at all) will the new installment reference the civil war in Skyrim between the Imperials and Stormcloaks? Because whatever side you choose is the one that wins. Do you think that they just won't mention it? I think it will come up eventually. Post your thoughts!

Depends what time zone the next game is set. Could be that it's years after or years before the civil war. However, they probablly wont mention the winner. *cough empire cough* :D

it will probably not get mentioned. if it does get mentioned it will probably be the truce being the canon thingy.

Well when you win, there is still a remaining part of the enemy army, so it's possible they could just choose whichever side they wanted. It's more likely that they won't mention it and the next game will just take place a few hundred years later, with minor references to TLD.

They'll either just set the game so far in the future they could not mention it, or they could have Elisif as High Queen, either way.

It's telling that she's the only jarl who remains in her position, they wouldn't have done that for nothing, especially as they went to the trouble of removing a quest where she gets killed off. Not all Stormcloak jarls approve of Ulfric, so it's entirely reasonable that there's such a disagreement that Elisif remains in charge and 'High Queen Elisif' is who we hear about in the next game.

I doubt it'll be the truce, as the failure of the Stormcloaks equates to an Imperial victory, and Bethesda's not risking that great a need for increased moderation fan rebellion.

when i mean mentioned, i mean as in books. i doubt that they wont mention the skyrim civil war in books. im leaning towards them somehow turning it into a truce

They might do something like that, but I hope not. A truce means you don't get an independent Skyrim, and as that's the entire point of the Stormcloaks (and people just tired of the Empire in general) it would feel like we've been short-changed. Besides, the Dragonborn we played - and the ones Imperials played, for that matter - didn't get a truce. A win for one side or the other is already canon. Unless they're going to ret-con a large part of the game, they need to deliver.

if they do a truce, it might be because of (if Stormcloaks win) the assassination of Ulfric or vice versa with Elisif. But i do agree with you, i hope it will be an independant skyrim

Dragon break, everyone won the Civil war simultaneously, including the Aldmer and the dragons.

They can't have either victory as canon since it will pass people off. So it'll probably be vague.
