Crossbows/bows and other 'primitive' weapons?

Post » Sat May 08, 2010 7:26 pm

Any mods to add bows and/or crossbows?
It would seem that in the absence of other weapon and ammo manufacturing that these relatively simple, but very effective, weapons would have made a major comeback. Lots of car leaf springs suspension around to make wicked crossbows.

Also how about spears, swords and axes? 200 years after the collapse these should be in major evidence given the number of nasty critters (animal and human) that populate the place.

FOOK2 adds axes (though, for some reason, I can't seem to find them), and I think it adds spears too (either that or some other mod I got, probably FOOK).

You would think that such things would be more common, since the game is based off Oblivion.
Spears were very common in Fallout 1&2 also

http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10856 adds some more primitive weapons like hockey sticks and axes and the like. I remember seeing something somewhere that bows/crossbows were impossible to do with the engine or something.

I for one would love to go Rambo on the Wasteland, hopefully one day FOSE can support that :P

http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4616 adds a few vendors, one of which has weapon variations of a lot of the useless junk already in game. Such as, scalpels, spatulas, and wrenches.

The only crossbow I can think of is part of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R weapons mod. Although not exactly a "primitive" crossbow.

It would seem that the dart weapon in the game is a crossbow.

Some pretty cool stuff there, but unfortunately no spears or bows.
It seems really unlikely that the engine cant handle bows and such. No only is it a variation of the Oblivion engine but all the ballistics elements (gravity, velocity, etc) are definitely part of the engine.
It would seem that all we would need are the appropriate models (portable from oblivion?) and animations.

Wow, it would be a bit surreal to be attacked by raiders armed with spatulas!

I will check into the Stalker Krossbow.
Ideally it would be great to get things like bows, spears and axes added to the pool of weapons that the raiders use.
Super mutants with huge battle axes would definitely cut a fearsome sight, also

I think the animations were the big thing. It was a while ago, though.

No, it's based off Fallout 1 & 2. Aside from being made with the same game engine and by the same developer, the two have nothing in common.
