can't tell if you are just being deliberately misleading. Under the ToS, Robin Hood is not an acceptable name.

Whether a name is acceptable or not, it's always the other players' discretion to report someone.
After all, there is never any obligation on the players' part to report any inappropriate name they see. A good way to go about things is definitely: if a name bothers you, report; if not, don't bother.
hmm Im glad I didnt include a 'space' in my account name then....its a farily popular name of a ps2 game character, but without the 'space' its technically not the same
@Cydramech, I doubt you can report someone for including 'x' in their names...like xnamex....you can of course but I dare say nothing would happen
1. No player can ever in any way obligated to report any remotely-possible ToS/EULA violation.
2. The OP did not anywhere state that names being violated must be reported (and if he did, re-read my first point), only that those names being reported will be held accountable.
Methinks some of you are taking this stuff a bit too seriously.
But have fun reporting. I'll be leveling, myself, it's easier to kill mobs than bad screen names.
Also, naming policies are extremely unenforced in betas, since everything gets wiped anyway.
The individual has an explicit right to report anything and everything he or she views to be against the EULA/TOS or something not-covered that may yet need attention, but it is up to the GM and only the GM to exercise discretion beyond that.
My account name(Same as my display name here - I went for something people recognize me as) came from WoW's random name generator when I first created my main in WoW; an orc female shaman. She's no longer an orc but that's not the point.... Faction change about 5 years ago... >.>
Done a few Google searches since and it's apparently a Japanese vodka.
I couldn't stop laughing when I heard that one.
If you want to call correcting you(and others) on a technicality a red herring, then sure, fine.
I'm not advocating using them because they're trademarks and not copyrights. I'm correcting you on an error in technicality. There's a difference. If I was using it as an excuse to do it anyway, that would be a red herring.
This rule typically is used to prevent impersonation of GMs or other employees, or other players in an effort to defame.
I once had two people that couldn't stand me in WoW make characters using alternate vowels to try to slander me in game. Both were logged in trash talking me just as I logged in. Once I logged in and called them on it, they shut up and logged quickly after. Both were reported, and from what I understand, both got a few days off from game for impersonation in an attempt to slander.
Never once argued that. I merely was correcting folks on semantics.
I posted the screenshot including my avatar's face here on facebook.
First comment: "Boromir, is that you?" with a picture of him.
Next comment: "Omg it's Kurt Cobain!"
Recognition is relative.
I just made what I deem "highly attractive male Nord". I wasn't aiming for anything. At first I attempted to make it look like a friend of mine, but the beards in this game, when light colored, are lacking and look like plastic.
I honestly think that a person would have a hell of a time proving that you are making a replica of a person in a system where there is a finite amount of combinations that are provided to you by the service.
You COULD (and, granted, the odds are infinitesimal) have the EXACT character you intend to create randomly created via simply rolling the character...
I'm not entirely sure anyone would have a leg to stand on if they claimed that you "used" the predetermined amount of attributes within a closed system to make a "replica" of someone...
Before correcting me, you should go correct Zenimax instead. Then should you get the Zenimax team to change their agreement will you have a legitimate foot to stand on to correct anyone posting in this thread, because as far as the OP's link is concerned - there is no distinction between a trademark and a copyright, and since Zenimax is the "WORD OF GOD" about their EULA... well yeah, just take it up with Zenimax. But until Zenimax changes their words, it's a red-herring because we're communicating using the language Zenimax has decided on.
Its not their standards its Zenimax's standards, something that we have all agreed to abide by.
yeah, I didn't get very far with him with that argument...
Robin hood might break (6 however this is hard to judge, you allowed to use random npc names from older Tes games the lore friendly name list come from here, you are also allowed to use other names and Robin hood is more mythological than popular.
It's rather scary that the age of internet has promoted in people the habit to skip everything and just click Accept.
yea I'm going for it..that replica character will stay in coldharbour prison for a long time since it will be an alt too..my main will be totally made up
it nearly collapsed the U.S economy in 2009.
You cant have "Nwah" or "s'wit" in your name
I've been doing that since i was born.
Seriously, there's such a thing as TL:DR.
And it's not like my life depends on it. They can't have "you sign up to be a slave" in their agreements.
yeah thats why I included 'you can of course...' in my comment...because ofc you can report anything you want, but with certain things its quite predictable how a GM will react....a name like xRobertx will defintiley not be forced to be changed, just because it has 'X's in it , since there is no rule for lore friendly names
