Hello. Looking for help running Morrowind on my laptop

Post » Tue Apr 01, 2014 10:03 am

I have a Dell laptop that I bought in 2010 and I am hoping to play Morrowind with it. However it seems there is one issue standing in my way. According to systemrequirementslab, I need a better video card. All I need is something good enough to run Morrowind. I don't need a high end product. However I can't seem to locate the type of video card that is required when I use google. The recommended video cards on systemlabrequirements site are all over $100 and more powerful than what I need. Again, I just need something good enough for Morrowind. Does anyone know where I can find this?

Edit: Sorry, this is the type of video card it says I need:

32 MB Direct3D Compatible video card with 32-bit color support and DirectX 8.1

And this is what it says I currently have:

Mobile Intel? 4 Series Express Chipset Family

It's a 2002 game, I can't see why you can't just play it. The only problem I know is that there is a problem with a certain brand of cards or whatever that causes the sun to become black, I think it's AMD?

Have you actually tried to run Morrowind?

No I didn't want to buy it if I knew I couldn't run it. Is there any reason I shouldn't trust systemlabrequirements?

You have to install the expansions for Morrowind manually, sadly. It's tedious, but it's the only way to install them on systems with Vista and Windows 7. Probably even Windows 8 requires the same thing.
