So i found this ancient video on my channel on youtube, and ive noticed something strange about every video with a camera ive made, is it normal for a camera to distort my voice that bad? i mean, i'm not the singing type, but woah that is NOT good sounding.

The reason i ask is because i wanted to get back into doing LP's (this time with OBS) and i wanted to know if there is anything i can do, as per the video, make my voice less sound like a demented chipmunk and more like a actual human.

I'm no expert, but perhaps you should invest in better recording equipment?

Just a few suggestions and don't worry - most people hate their voice when it's recorded and are freaked out that it sounds so different to how they thought others would hear it.

Probably the R Love book is the easiest to get into.

EDIT scratch that (unless you're interested), just reread your post and would suggest buying a decent microphone and plugging it into your camera, if it allows.

Yeah, even back then i had no plans to stay with my current setup, its just with that certain personal events those upgrade plans had to be scrapped, and the whole LP thing as well, but i might make a return to it, hopefully with a much better camera/capture card

There is some background noise I think. Try using a headset if you're not. Also your recording tech is quite... dated.

Technology wise, I got nothing new to add that has already been said...

But I do wish to say this. Your voice sounds different to others than to yourself at all times, no matter what. The only way to hear what you sound like to others would be a "perfect" recording of you talking and then listening to said recording. (Can't say if this recording really is a "perfect" or if technology is the issue since I've never talked to ya in real life).

Yeah, ive noticed that when i was viewing it, i had plans to replace a majority of my setup with new things by my birthday back in 2012, which is may 27th, but due to money issues, i couldnt, so i kept putting it off to the point where it was pointless to continue to upload the videos, so i just said forget it, but i do have a pretty decent screen recorder called OBS, And what i will do is do a few test videos to see how it works, and if its good, then im good. I just hope it sounds ok.
