Proving Honor quest - my follower

Post » Wed Apr 02, 2014 12:28 pm

Hi all - so I've been given the Proving Honor quest (but haven't started it yet) where I take Farkas into the cairn. However, I currently have Faendal as my follower and the wikis I've read say that I lose him while this quest is active, but they don't mention his equipment. Should I first take back all the stuff I've given him so i don't lose it? Or will he still be equipped? And will I have to then seek him out again after the quest is completed or will he be hanging out in Breezehome?

Thanks!

I nearly sure that he'll still have the stuff on him the next time you ask him to follow you.

He will be back at Riverwood. Anytime you give a follower equipment, it will remain in their inventory but it will appear to disappear once you dismiss them. Once you ask them to join you again whatever equipment they had equipped, they will be wearing.

I did this with Jordis. I gave her a full set of ebony. I dismissed her, she went back to my house (she was my steward) and appeared back in her steel armor. Once I asked her to join me, the ebony reappeared on her.

Hope this helps some.

It behaves like you dismissed him as a follower - the "part ways" option. Whatever he'd do if you did it voluntarily will happen. So a follower that's a house-carl goes back to your home, etc.

A good idea might be to go back to Riverwood and dismiss him there. This actually goes for all followers - go back to their home base before you dismiss them. Just look at all the threads here that start with "I lost Lydia". I have misplaced followers this way too. They can be killed on their way home, or simply disappear from the game (they might reappear later, but don't count on it).
