Gone Fishing.

So, I started a new game and I'm realizing how much that needs to be one in order to raise certain Skills.

So, anyone know a good spot to get Cyrodiilic Spadetails in a decent quantity and has a non-eternity-based respawn time? Ideas that don't pertain to me building a house and using the hatchery would be nice (this character's RP isn't going that route ATM).

I know that the lake east of Ivarstead has a good number, but that's a fair amount of lake to cover (though I'm not adverse to that).

I gathered alchemy loop materials starting in the lake behind Riften, following the water all the way to Ivarstead. I'd harvest about 40 spadetails and longfins combined per trip (pretty much 50/50). If you need more the waters have a ten day respawn time.

Very nice.

That lake by Ivaarstead is my usual go-to spot for Spadetails, I was just plumbing the collective to see if anyone had found some other spots. :)

This is how you catch fish in Skyrim: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUusX1Js6R0

Remember you have to YELL REALLY LOUD (hint hint)

Spoiler
Fus-Ro-Dah and the fishies float up dead. Kind of like fishing with dynamite. Just use the first word to blast groups of fish. Usually they are right below a swarm of dragonflies when they initially spawn (before the dragon flies scatter). Also FYI insects can be blasted this way but they sink in water.

Best I've found. Waterbreathing helmet isn't at all needed, but doesn't hurt if you have it.

Did you watch the video? It's a classic! Also, yeah the shouting works better than trying to look through the water, especially in places too shallow to get your head below water. The reflections on the water can make it near impossible to see them from above. A few potshots into the water using a shout gets things done. Just make sure you can catch the floating fishies if the current is quick as they can float down river.

Yup. Before HF, this was my primary method. Similar results. Now I just use the hatchery in HF.

When harvesting in the lake, make sure to use the pro-tip of looking for the dragonfly groups, the fish are right below them.

Ive heard that Fus Ro Dah'ing salmon will give you the roe, as opposed to standing on the rocks trying to catch them, or spamming the jump button upstream.

Any thoughts on this? Sorry to hijack your thread Uriel.

Haven't tried the shout, but the standard Flames spell works great, just stand in the stream at the base of the falls/rapids and flame away! Keep your eyes peeled though, as the roe is out of the salmon and floating away...
