Skyrim Sound Too Low; VIA HD Audio

Post » Sat Apr 05, 2014 1:14 am

I recently downloaded Skyrim again after trying to get into Morrowind. Morrowinds mechanics are superior in the sense that the combinations and options are a lot deeper for character development, but despite MSGO and others I couldn't get over the dated technical side of it.

In any case, I cannot enjoy Skyrim properly because even with volume cranked to 100%, my Skyrim sounds like it should if the volume was at 30%-45%.

I'm using VIA HD Audio Integrated into my motherboard.

I'm using headphones plugged into the front jack.

I've tried suggestions from the steam forums, these forums and other random searches I found but nothing has worked.

Loudness Equalization actually lowers the sound volume.

I have not made it out of the starting area because the low sound annoys me to no end.

At 100% volume any music, video or game I play blasts my ear drums to the point of hurting so I know my soundcard or headphones isn't the problem. The problem is Skyrim.

Try to change fAudioMasterVolume at:

SkyrimPrefs.ini

for example:

fAudioMasterVolume=5.0000
