I know this forum is mostly for discussion of the games themselves, but I picked up a copy of Fallout 2 from this overstock place for $5, and the disc is fine (so is the case), but when I pop the disc in, autorun won't work, and manually trying to start setup just causes the disc to just keep spinning inside the optical drive. When I eject the disc, though, I'll get the "Allow/Deny" menu that you get on Windows 7/8 when you run a new application that requires administrator mode. However, even if I allow it and pop the disc back in, it just continues spinning the disc without doing anything.
I realize that Windows 8 tends to be pretty incompatible with older games, but the minimum system specs suggest that it would even work on Vista/Windows 7. Note: this isn't an old, pre-Bethesda copy. This one has Bethesda and Zenimax copyrights/trademarks on the back. Additionally, I bought the first Fallout from this same place, and it's also a newer copy (with Bethesda/Zeniamx trademarks), and I only had a bit of a lag issue until I messed with the compatibility settings.
Has anyone else had this same issue? Any suggestions on what I can do? I mean, I'm sure it probably works on Windows 7, and my gaming desktop runs 7, but I don't have any room to set it up at this time so I'm forced to use my Windows 8 laptop for the time being.
