I've been looking for an old PC game, but I can only remember scant details about it. I was hoping someone here might be able to discern the faint rememberances into a game title. It's one of those things you recall only as almost a legend of your past.
Details I recall:
Strength was upgraded by finding horseshoes, which was interesting in hindsight. There were titans in the game that showed up in 2D, but there was a pseudo 3D LOD system where they looked small, but when you got close you came up to about their kneecap. Approximately Doom-style graphics (including the first-person), but it was a fantasy game.. sorta. At the end of it, you find diving suits and laser weapons left behind by this alien race (the diving suits were used to actually locate the crashed ship of said alien race). Played it in '97 but was too young to actually recall a publisher or the original release date.
Combat came in the form of four pictures of characters that would attack in succession based on what you had them equipped with. There was magic and elves in the thing (but that hardly narrows it down). Magic was extraordinarily hard to master and alchemy would literally explode in your face and kill you if you got it wrong. You had to write down any successes you had on paper because the game did not save anything like that.
I know it's vague as hell, but this is all myself and my friend that played it can recall of it. If someone can tell me what this might be, I will love you forever.
