Spouses wont stay :( never encountered this before...

Post » Tue Apr 08, 2014 9:24 pm

rebooted skyrim again, with a bunch of mods but none that affects marriage or homestead. Only texture and model modifications to make NPC's less... ugly.

anyways, i married Janessa and have a fully built Lakeview Manor with a bedroom addition and 2 kids. After i married her, she ask me where to live and the only option was her place. so i accepted it, visited her place, then the option to move to lakeview opened up and i did that. except she just wanders back to Whiterun as soon as we part. i tried just questing for a while and letting days pass and occasionally when i go to lakeview, she will appear outside, even fighting random wolves that wander by. But then she would go back to white run after. i tried asking her to move there many times and she still does the same thing. finally i got annoyed so i killed her off and reset the marriage quest.

did mjoll's sword mission, got mara amulet again and married her. and the SAME thing happens. all she ever does is walk back to Riften as soon as we part. No matter how much i ask her to move in with me to Lakeview. at this point I have 2 houses, the fully built lakeview and now the fully built windstad also with a bedroom and STILL she wont move to either of them. she just walk back to Riften and sits at the pub infinitely.

what do i do?

i also have a housecarl at each location. There are definitely more than enough beds at each place, i mean its fully upgraded with the bedroom option and i counted 4 single beds and a double.

*one thing i notice odd is that at night time, when i go to my lakeview manor i notice each night Lydia the steward is stuck at the edge of the bed kind of kicking it, until dawn breaks. i am assuming shes trying to go to sleep. but this doenst happen in Windstad manor and yet Mjoll still wont move there*

anyways, any help would be really appreciated. thank you !

M'aiq thinks of reloading a previous save.. Or use a mod/console command to divorce Jenassa and find another.

Welcome to the forums.

M'aiq wishes he had a stick made out of fishies to give to you. Sadly, he does not.

Are you in the middle of the Civil War with taking Whiterun or defending it as an open quest?

I noticed any followers or spouse from Whiterun will return to Whiterun and the original place you found them when the quest Battle of Whiterun is acquired. I had Aela as a follower for one character. As soon as Ulfric said to meet Galmar at the came, Aela ran off.

My daughter Lucia was walking around the Gildergreen tree after the fight... and she was suppose to be home in Lakeview. The wife Lydia came strolling out of Breezehome... and my steward uthgard was walking towards the main gate from the direction of her house.

nope, not in a civil war of any kind. ive been doing guild missions.

sigh.. i even downloaded the mod that supposably forces npcs to stay at a location and she STILL says ill head back to riften when we separate party. this is mjoll im talking about.

this is frustrating as well... is there a console code to fix this? like, set NPC home or something.

The Gallowglass School of Wooing strongly endorses http://whizwordz.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/methane-cuddles.jpg to cure any and all marital disputes.

Failing that, check your wife's script. It sounds like a script that's supposed to be cancelled hasn't been, which does indeed mean one of your mods has broken Jenassa's lines of code. Crack open her script in the creation kit, grab a screenshot, and compare it to what her script looks like without the mods. Or ask someone else to find you a picture of untainted Jenassa script, if someone out there's feeling super-helpful. Made the appropriate adjustments, save, and enjoy your psychotic elven *cough* maiden.

With methane cuddles, of course.

Firstly, you prolly broke something when reseting RelationshipMarriage. Secondly, Mjoll always says that she's heading back to Riften, no matter when she actually goes. Finally, it's very possible that one of your mods is outdated and is meddling with RelationshipMarriageFIN without ensuring Hearthfire compatibility.

dah ta hell with it. first of all ALL my mods are visual only. post processing, texture size, weather effects, item remodeling and mesh detailing. not a single game changing mod, plus i DO make sure everything is hearthfire compatible.

but instead of going through scripts trying to fix it i found a patch mod fix that just forces followers to live at a place. no difference what so ever... they walk around the place, eat, sleep and fight off wolves. exactly the same.

modder > bathesda in this case.

Modder > Bethesda in most cases, but in mitigation your problem is pretty damn rare.
