Annoying beep sound?

Post » Thu Apr 10, 2014 8:51 pm

Anytime I click on something like a cell or something with a form id, I get this annoying beep sound. Is there a way to disable this without muting my computer all together? I would like to listen to music while modding, but this has got to go first. I tried going into the volume mixer and I don't see an option there. I tried muting all my computer sounds and that still doesn't stop it. Can't seem to find an option in the construction set either. The only way to stop it is to mute my whole computer's volume, and that's not what I want to do. So does any one have any ideas of how to get rid of this?

I had this happen to me with the Morrowind CS before, and you actually have to correct a setting on your computer.
Here's the solution that worked for me:

Unfortunately, that doesn't work. I have it set to no sounds. It's still beeping. I have everything muted under the volume mixer, but my browser (and of course the main volume mixer), yet it still does it.

Yeah, your volume control has nothing to do with the sound. It is the motherboard itself making that noise.

Maybe try changing it to a sound, saving it, than go back to "no sound."
You would likely need Admin control for the changes to save.

What sound should I try to change then? Just any sound?

Edit: Okay when I have it set to windows default, I get a different beep, but either selecting no sound for that "default beep" or just choosing no sounds as the sound scheme, it makes another beep.

Second edit: I was exploring the properties for my speakers under the playback tab and found a volume level for the pc beep. I muted it and its all fixed now. Wish I would have found this earlier though. Confused why the no sound thing didn't work though. I would have thought no sounds meant no sounds.
