Insects Begone - White Ridge Barrow

Post » Thu Apr 10, 2014 12:48 pm

I've heard a description of White Ridge Barrow from a fellow Arachnophobe... and a number of things stuck out from their rather terrified explanation:

People controlled by spiders...
Someone FIRING spiders...
Tiny spiders swarming...
Jumping spiders...

Could anyone here, firstly - explain exactly WHAT spider related stuff is found in the Barrow?

As someone who's deathly afraid of Spiders, I downloaded the "Insects Begone" mod... but while I know that deals with Frostbite spiders, and their giant equivalents... These spiders listed above definitely don't sound like your normal frostbites... So I was wondering if the Insects Begone mod actually deals with White Ridge Barrow, and if so - in what way? I've also heard something about "Spider Scrolls" - what impact does the mod have on these?

Until I get any sort of answer for this... I'll be avoiding W.R.B. like the plague.

It looks like there's a Dragonborn plugin for Insects Begone, and looking at the comments, the author specifically mentions White Ridge Barrow, so it should be fine. As for the spider scrolls, they're pretty much throwing spiders you can make (And are only called scrolls because that's the inventory section they're in, they're actual spiders you hold and throw), but you should be able to just ignore the machine that makes them entirely, assuming you can actually get the main item you need to make them with all the stuff the mod removes.

If you eliminate the spiders, that place is going to be rather dull and empty. Especially as the reward is spiders!

Yeah - but if you keep the spiders, the place becomes hell - nightmare fuel, and causes you to avoid it like the plague - OR go through it with the sound off and your eyes closed then to burn the reward in the Aetherial Forge. So yeah... it may be a bit dull... but at least it isn't full of spiders! XD
