I've heard around the skyrim forum that there is an application that makes you able basically to switch your compilation\ini, in the case you've got more than one skyrim folder, so basically you can have all the skyrim install you wish, with all kind of different mods.

Does anyone know if there is something similar for oblivion?

MOM or mTES4 are what you want.
