About Fawkes and the chamber.

Hi, I'm here to ask simple question.

So, I finished the main campaign in GOTY, at least the first part, and seeing how Fawkes is simply immune to radiation, as he is supermutant and all, I told him to activate it, and he did, I got the ending, and after I saw the ending on youtube, the "alternative Fawkes ending" I saw that narrator is saying how selfish we were for not sacrifacing, but even though I did the same, I didn't get this piece of ending, mentioning Fawkes and his sacriface (which wasn't really a sacriface, because he is still alive).

Did they remove the stupid ending in one of the patches?

I believe that ending is added if you have broken steel installed (though i may be wrong)

Do you have the broken steel dlc?

Yes, the game spanks you for not going into the chamber and doing your job. I had Fawkes do it one time and during the slides, I felt guilty for not doing it myself.

It meant something when the game had a hard ending. However, now with Broken Steel, there is no reason to not go into the chamber yourself.

I think that if you have no DLC enabled he will just tell something like "That's your destiny, not mine", the thing is, he agreed to go, but the narrator didn't even mention how amazing hero he was and how selfish halfscum I was.

Originally, way back in the beginning, the Lone Wanderer was supposed to be exactly that; the LONE Wanderer.

Beth listened to all the complaining about not having henchmen/sidekicks/companions, and added the ability to have a companion. Unfortunately they added this relatively late in the process, and didn't change the original ending of the game. Originally, it was just going to be you and Sarah there at the end. One would die in the chamber. Once they added the ability to have a companion, the story didn't make sense. Why would you or Sarah sacrifice yourself when you could have a supermutant who wasn't bothered by the radiation, a ghoul who was healed by the radiation, or a robot who could ignore the radiation go in and push the button for you?

While playing Broken Steel was fun, I actually liked the original ending better.
