Best followers?

What would you say are the best followers in the game? I heard some people praise J'Zargo greatly, but at level 80 he just does nothing to the enemies I face. I had Mjoll on one character as a follower, but at level 55 she did little-to-nothing, too. Even with a Glass Mace that would make Malacath drool with delight...

Serana's pretty good, but I'd prefer a warrior or perhaps an archer...

So what followers do you use that really help you? And should I have different followers depending on my level?

P.S. my Level 81 Imperial is chaotic evil. He was good but the Daedra corrupted him. My Level 40 Dunmer is a good girl, though. :P

I'm never disappointed with Uthgerd really. Heavy Armour to let her tank and Two-Handed weaponry to let her do damage and stagger.

Kharjo and J'zargo are awesome, especially J'zargo, who's level isn't capped.

Bu J'zargo was using a shock spell on a Draugr Scourge and only took around 10% of its health off in about 5/10 seconds. :/

Brelyna Maryon... powerful mage, and an actual personality to boot, unlike some other followers who are a bit... bland. *Glares in the general direction of Lydia*.

I would also say Vigilance, but he's not really a follower - well, he is an animal follower for sure, but... does he count? He is quite sturdy though, and can actually put up a pretty good fight.

Jenassa, she's dark and creepy, and pretty competent (although I do use AFT, so she levels with me, and doesn't do some of the more doofy things followers do in vanilla (such as walking right into blatantly obvious traps).
