Getting new PC - graphics mods suggestions

Post » Tue Apr 22, 2014 7:03 pm

Hey Skyrim players!

I've ordered new computer parts, which are going to arrive in a couple of days. This rig looks as folllows:

Intel I5-4570 3.2GHz*

AsRock B85 Pro4 Motherboard

MSI GTX 760 2GB OC

8GB (2x4) Crucial Ballistix 1600MHz CL9

1TB Seagate HDD

Thermaltake Smart SE 530W Modular PSU

Zalman Z3 Plus case

Windows 8.1

*No aftermarket cooler yet, I'll see what temperatures I'll get on the stock fan, also the case itself has 4 fans, should help with air flow.

Could you suggest some mods suitable for this rig?

Like texture and mesh replacers, ENBs, but other great non-graphic mods would be nice too.. I've already played Skyrim for ~340 hours on my current PC, with numerous mods too, it's just not powerful anymore to get good framerates with graphic mods, so I'm not very familiar with current graphic enhancing mods. I'm also pretty familiar with BOSS, Wrye Bash (so handy when it comes to texture replacers), importance of Load Order or the rule of not uninstalling mods mid-game, especially scripted ones.

Thanks in advance!

The most aftermarket coolers have a back-plate and mounting crossbars. So if you buy it afterwards, you must take your CPU off, all the inside PSU cables and so on...for a second time.

So it's advisable to do it now, if you want to buy an better cooler for your RIG.

Suggestion: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099 for $ 34.99. (That's a cheap but good cooler)

You can see the huge differences at stock load and overclocked load schematics.

GOOD LUCK. !!!

You can buy some cases that have a cut out on the motherboard plate that allow you change coolers without taking the entire computer apart. However if you don't have that kind of case, get the cooler now. As Berta says, "It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it"

The one linked above it a great cooler and costs half what the other hi performance coolers cost. And, get some Arctic Silver to use with the cooler.

Thanks guys. I'm aware that an efficient cooler is an important piece, but unfortunately I have already stressed my budget. I planned to buy a PC for ~2700 PLN, but it turned out to be 3100 PLN (all parts including OS) so you get the idea.

Fortunately the case has that hole behind the CPU socket (and some room for cables between motherboard rest and outer case plate), so I hope that replacing the cooler in future won't be much of a problem. After all, I thought it might be better idea to get better parts, notably CPU and GPU and wait for a relatively cheap cooler, than cut the price (and performance) on the most expensive parts.
