Writing your character's story

Post » Wed Apr 23, 2014 3:00 pm

So when I played on PC I had the mod Journal of the Dragonborn which let you write down what your char does and like it's adventures through Skyrim, but now that my pc crashed I'm on console. I was recently talking briefly with someone on these forums about the Joural of the Dragonborn and how it svcks that I can't use it, when I thought hey, I got a pen and paper, why not just write (dur dee dur stupid technological me)? So I have been writing a VERY in depth account of Octavian the Vigilant. I was wondering if anyone else does this, or am I just strange? It actually helps me rping

I did, once, on a non Dragonborn character.

I had the Word files on my old laptop, though, but hopefully I can get them back.

It pretty much consumed most of my game time, really. Every time I played I thought "how well would this translate into a story?" I had to remind myself it wasn't supposed to be written (or read at all) like you would a book and should just go along with it.

I was thinking more along the lines of a journal, rather than story, like daily, in_game of course.

Yes I think about what I (well my char) will write while I'm playing, and then look at the date and time so that I know how to head each entry. It does take a while, but I like doing it. I stop playing every hour or so to write what's happened so far so that I don't get way behind on entries

Yes, exactly. I had a hard time remembering that it wasn't a story, but a record of the character.

M'aiq is wondering... What is a paper and pen? XD

Sorry, M'aiq had to do that. Since almost everyone has become reliant on technology, some things, such as paper, pens, pencils, etc. will become extinct someday.

M'aiq sometimes writes a journal for his character on console.

Hahah I was literally so mad that I didn't have the pc mod for the dragonborn jornal because I was on console. I mean, I didn't even realize paper existed until like 2 days ago

I frequently write about my Dragonborn's stories and relationships but never in journal format (and I honestly don't think Freyja would be the type to take the time to write anything really). It helps to pass the time during boring class lectures....

Hiomaste XVIII is a skilled archer and a excellent swords-woman she was born in 345 years ago in the newly rebuilt hiomaste school of archery and her mother and father taught her how to shoot a bow and handle dual blades she also learned other things such as alchemy, thievery, the art of bartering and many other things. after the argonians invaded valenwood (again) she had to flee to skyrim and use her skills to make a living. she learned of vodahmin ah when visiting a Nordic tomb in solstheim and is now the head priestess of vodahmin ah. she now has constructed a set of dragon bone swords and even a set of dragon scale armor with a aetherial crown. she hunts down the dragon cult members and steals heir artifacts to increase her powers and please her daedric prince so far she has gained

  • 10+ dragon masks
  • 100 dragon bones and scales
  • a dragon bone dagger (she uses it as a hunting knife)
  • 10+ staffs of dragon priests

?she has ties with the empire and has contributed to the winning of the civil war she is now a legate and works to honor her families name she is Dr. hiomaste XVIII and she won't let anyone get in her way

well it's a journal introduction of sorts
