Regional and Cultural Deity Names

Surprisingly, I'm coming out in defense of ESO. I very much appreciate that regional names for gods (the pantheons of various races) and cultural names for gods (such as Mauloch being used rather than Malacath by Orcs). To me, it shows an attention to detail and a refusal to dumb down that Skyrim lacked. When I first began playing Skyrim, I was incredibly confused by the appearance of the Imperial pantheon in Skyrim, when there was already a Nordic pantheon in existence. Said pantheon was even referenced with Kyne and Alduin, but never explored.

However, this is not to say there's no good reason for keeping the Imperial names. As my friends have said, it would make a prospective mod less jarring if all Orcs say Malacath, and it may appear elitist to people who don't know the lore.

At any rate, given a recent discussion I had, I'd like to know what y'all think. If a mod were to include characters from other provinces, territories of other provinces, or new Orcish strongholds, what would you prefer: continued usage of Imperial/Aldmer names for Aedra and Daedra, or localized usage such as Mauloch(Malacath), Orkey(Arkay), and Jeffre(Y'ffre)?

It's not just names, it's entirely different belief systems. But yes, regional/cultural gods is the way to go, always. Skyrim's omission of the Nordic pantheon was its greatest crime.

The current debate is more focused on having Orcs say Mauloch or Malacath, though it does speak to the greater philosophy that will be used -- whether to diverge from Skyrim or not.

I don't see why the wood orcs of Valenwood would use the same name for their deity as the orcs of Skyrim's strongholds, the orcs of Cyrodiil or the orcs of Orsinium, simply because I don't think Malacath would care what they call him. During the Interregnum Mauloch seems to have been very popular across all Tamriel, but what happens later?

Go crazy. All of his names (Malacath, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:The_Code_of_Mauloch, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:The_True_Nature_of_Orcs, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Varieties_of_Faith..., http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:The_House_of_Troubles, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Varieties_of_Faith..., even Trinimac) are very much accessible to anyone who is interested. If you're worried that someone will be confused, throw in a few of the aforementioned books in visible places. Maybe you could even persuade someone to write an in-game book on the subject for you, if you don't feel up to it yourself, or throw it into some dialogue, or make it a plot point and have orcs arguing very seriously about his "true", "proper" name!
