Building an estate - my first jaunt on PC

I figured I'd tell y'all this story, seeing as this is the only place I talk about Oblivion and TES (well, any games to be honest, this is my only forum :tes: )

Basically, I've been playing Oblivion since its release on XBOX back in 2007, so for seven years (my god, this makes me feel old..., and I'm only 18 :D) But anyway, I've played on console for that whole time, and only recently did I decide to fire it up on the PC. At first, just the console was enough to keep me happy and to develop my characters with more ease. (You learn to appreciate the little things after an eternity of pure vanilla on console)

One thing I disliked about the atmosphere of Oblivion was the feeling that Cyrodiil was dying. Every ruin had ghosts and other undead or bandits and marauders. So much for the mighty Imperial Legion of Cyrodiil, who cannot maintain forts even fifty feet from a city... This ties in with my story, gimme a minute. :P

I decided to play as a Breton noble, disgraced by some A-hole who goes by the name Motierre who had me cast out of the Court of Daggerfall for his own political games. Agameln - my Breton - vowed to have his revence on Motierre and his allies in Wayrest. But to do that, I need power. I needed a following.

Agameln's plans were quickly dragged through the dirt as he tried to bargain with some undercover Imperial guards, who promptyl threw him into prison. Then blah blah blah Oblivion crisis, now people love him and Dagon is defeated. He gained a small following (downloaded my first mod that casts a spell on someone making them a permenant follower :D) and had a small contingent of five Imperial Legion guards. Next on my list was to get myself a home. Luckily, a castle west of Chorrol was under siege, and the ruler of the keep was killed, so Agameln took charge, and earned himself a castle, several servants and several more serving men. Many of whom are fellow Bretons.

After that, I enthralled the people of Chorrol, Skingrad and the Imperial City (well, shot a modded spell at them to make them follow me) and thus Battlehorn castle became a small estate in no time. Using the console, I added a few more houses nearby (working out the kinks, for the people, for the most part, stay in the castle itself).

My friend has started working on a mod that makes followers who are waiting will wander around but will not leave a cell, so they'll sit down, eat, sleep etc. It's good for immersion but it's still riddled with holes, it is in an early stage. For now, if anyone has a mod that makes waiting followers radiant in a cell I'd love a link to a download :D For now, my castle is virtually full to the brim with people going this way and that, just like an actual keep would have been like, busy and lived-in. (My winery make the best wine West of the Niben, by the way)

I'm now a major political player in Western Cyrodiil, and some of my fellow Bretons have taken notice. In the small village blossoming outside my keep, three Breton merchants have set up shop. They'll probably have actual stores eventually, but for now their 'shops' consist of one-or-two chests and a tent :D I haven't figured out how to make them sleep and stuff, they just stand there. Still, it adds a touch more to Battlehorn Estate :)

So that's where I'm up to now. I don't know how powerful Agameln will be, and what he will do with that power, but so far the console, Construction Set and a couple of mods have added so much to the game that I would not have even be able to fathom not two months ago. This is so much fun so far, but the fun has only just begun! :goodjob:

If anyone has any ideas and suggestions as to what to do next, please let me know! I'll post a picture probably in a day or two, I'm on my phone in a hotel right now, and this has taken SOOOOOOO long to write on my crappy phone, so I hope at least one person reads it. :lmao:

For the most part, I just kinda told my friend (the one who's making this mod) what to do with the Construction Set (I was legitimately blown away when I found out that you could put houses in the game, I'm that nooby with PC :P) and I'd like to learn for myself, so a couple of tips for some old-time users would be greatly appreciated!

I imagine your transition from Xbox to PC was as great as it was for Renee Gade. The world of modding is now at your feet, enjoy!
