No magic play through?

Post » Sun Apr 27, 2014 7:24 am

I have tried to play without the use of any magic, but always end up blowing it with heal or candel light or some enchanted item. Anyone else ever try?

I did try a no magic, no potions, no enchanted, no stones, no Thu'um playthrough, but it felt more like the opposite of meta-gaming than actual role-play. I mean, why wouldn't a Nirnian weild a magic weapon or drink that potion?

I have played no-magic characters several times in all the Elder Scrolls games. I roleplay that some people have the aptitude for using magic safely and some do not I roleplay that magic is extremely dangerous to those who try to wield it without talent. That everyone would use magic not only seems boringly homogenous to me but almost like the exact opposite of roleplaying.

Yes I managed it not so long ago, I usually play mage types but decided to go with an Orc warrior by way of a change using no enchanting or magic of any kind. Quite enjoyed it and made sure I was well stocked on health potions (only ones I had found or purchased though as my Orc didn't use alchemy either).

I know most would find it boring, but a game like this based on pure survival, hunting, fishing, farming for food, fending off bandits and of course the evil kings men I think would be cool.

I never use enchanted items/magic - Play as a Ranger character with alchemy. Never needed to use magic, but I guess people who are newer to the game do

Most of my characters don't use milk drinking magic for RP reasons as they are too strong and proud to resort to fancy spells. ;)

I've been playing since release and yesterday started my first character that actually uses magic.

I have never used potions other than poisons don't craft either.

Just not a fan of that stuff.

I rarely use magic. It just doesn't fit with how I like to play.

I play that way most of the times. I do use alcemy though because I dont consider that magic. And no I dont care if it is in the mage tree you dont use magic when making potions.

Anyway I find it quite fun since you have to be careful and dont take hits as that will waste potions.

I basically only use healing and candlelight. I have grinded before and worked everything up to 100 but that was honestly just to level up. It ended up being fun but not enough to make me want to be a full-time mage. Still, I think it would be tough to never cast a spell in the game.

My current undertaking requires magic, but i have never went a playthrough without magic, i always used restoration at the very least.

I wish i was at home doing my current playthrough though. . .

Glad I'm not alone. Some people only like mage characters

99% of my play throughs involve no magic at all. Not even healing. Only if I play a mage or a witch type character will they know magic and use it.

I prefer mage characters as I enjoy the challenge of the game more when using them. I'm not a fan of the "charging in with a weapon and smashing everything in site" approach although many seem to enjoy it for some reason. Each to their own I guess.
