Visual size of shield and ability to deflect arrows

Does the visual size of the shield matter when it comes to deflecting arrows?

I've got the 'deflect arrows' perk activated, but I notice that every now and then I still see arrows going through my shield landing on my character's face.

I also notice that compared to the iron shield, the larger Dwarven shield appear to block arrows a lot more often, and one would assume it's due to the size of the Dwarven shield. But then the Banded Iron Shield which is also fairly large by the looks of it doesn't appear to block arrows more often than the iron shield, and I wonder why it is so.

I think it's just a limitation in game design.

I think the ability to deflect arrow is dependent on shield quality not shield size. Daedric shield will block arrow better than iron shield even though it look smaller than iron shield. CMIIW.

I think it matters most where they're shooting. I don't think there is a percentage of shots the shield will block or deflect which lies on chance and if it varies with the shield. I'd swear these Bandits and Draugr would be shooting right for the ankles, and that's when my shield would be useless.

I can't answer anymore than that because I almost never use shields.
