Vivec's account of the battle of Red Mountain

When the nerevarine speaks with Vivec for the first time he asks him why he killed Nerevar, Vivec replies by saying that he never killed Nerevar and gives him to accounts of what happened at red mountain, One written by Nerevar's shield companion who after the Battle of red Mountain lived with the ashlanders. This Copy says that the tribunal did kill Nerevar. The second copy given was written by Vivec, Now even though he tells the Nerevarine that the tribunal never killed nerevar there is nothing in Vivec's account of the battle about his death. Was he trying to imply that Nerevar died from his wounds from fight Dumac? What do you guys think actually happened?
