That thing is ugly as [censored]. Sure, it may well perform admirably, but if it's that damned ugly, I'd have to pass.

I love space. I love the space program. If this is true, I hope they cancel the space program.

That is ugly, horrible and doesn't even look effective.

Tax money well spent..

Guess the only thing left now is for America to once again get themselves into space. Instead of hitching a ride on a Russian Rocket.

Mars... that won't happen.

I sure as hell hope the people that design the spaceship aren't the same ones that designed that abomination of a spacesuit.

God, the jokes in that article were dreadful. WHY DID IT EVEN NEED JOKES IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Spaceships seem surprisingly easy to design. Anything oblong with a rocket attached. Not worrying about aerodynamics seems to help. Who'd have though that Red Dwarf-inspired monstrosity the Russians fly would turn out to be so reliable.

Wow. That's cool. Too bad it's completely useless with some sort of means to get it into space. You know, like say a space shuttle.

I have to agree with the majority, that thing looks....YUCK! I used to dream about being an astronaut as a kid. I loved it when NASA used to come to my elementary school too with some of their stuff, like this huge container of liquid nitrogen one of the guys brought. If this is what NASAs coming out with now, I don't even want to imagine what the ship will look like.

Looks pretty ridiculous. But good to see them getting something done. I don't care how it looks, I care how it works.

That thing looks stupid. But more importantly, how do they improve on today's spacesuits? Will it allow for better freedom of movement? Will it be zero-prebreathe like the Mark III prototype suit?

I'm not criticizing, I'm honestly curious to know how they improve on the current models of spacesuits.

So apparently it's one iteration of a prototype to test certain functions that could be used in a final spacesuit. The end result might look nothing like this.

Have to say I'm relieved as it does look pretty cheesy now. My understanding is they're looking for something more flexible and easy to use than the current model, with an emphasis on a suit that could be used for an extended time on a Mars mission.
