Posting RP stories: questions?

Post » Fri May 02, 2014 6:32 am

I'm new to this part of the forums and I have a few questions about stuff that I didn't see in the READ ME's:

1) When posting a char's journal or story, do you make a new thread for each chapter (about 5-8 paragraphs per chapter), or do you add a chapter in the comments?

2) I already made a pretty lengthy back story (2 chapters; about 15 shorter paragraphs total), but in Illusionary Nothing's thread about rping, it says that I should only put in a paragraph back story. Is it ok to do, well MORE?

3) Do you have to make a character fact sheet before you post a new rp story? Like, most of the stuff (race, gender, age, name) is pretty obvious in-story.

This is the first time I ever posted anything like this before, so I don't really know what to do haha. Like I said, I already have some stuff written and edited in Google Docs. Just waiting to copy and paste :D

*****Edit: fanfiction not RP. I think of fan fictions like rps because it's my char's story XD

Welcome!

1) I'd go with one thread only, with chapters in subsequent replies. You can also include them all in the first post, if they fit. I don't know what's the limit, but there is one.

2) That guide is about roleplaying, as in collaborative writing, and that doesn't seem to be what you're doing here. Even if it were, I wouldn't take those guidelines as hard rules. Your character's backstory is whatever you need it to be. To make it easier to navigate, you can also use spoiler tags to collapse different sections of your character sheet.

3) If you're just posting a story, there's no need for character sheets. That's a roleplaying thing. Unless you really want to, that is.
