What is your opinon on hardcoe mode?

Let's share our opinions on how good or bad hardcoe mode was!

For me, it does a lot good, but on the other side, there is sleep, hydration and hunger... these would be nice systems if they were implemented differently. When I picked it up from Doc Mitchel I though it will actually affect me, but it does not, it just takes away some of my SPECIAL stats, I though it will be much more realistic, yeah, you are so tired you are practically hallucinating and you are almost dying, BUT, you can still run around in heavy armour without any sign of being tired, there is something wrong with that. Dehydration, starvation and deprivation should give negative perks, for example, first state of deprivation should give you a perk called "Tired", it will make you gain xp 10% slower, second state should give you "Very Tired" perk (They all stack with each other) that makes you 50% slower in heavy armour, 20% slower in medium and you gain 20% penalty from xp gained, third state should make you unable to wear heavy armour and move much slower in medium armour, in addition to 30% xp penalty and -1 to agility strength and perception, fourth step would be complicated, you start seeing red markers on compass where there are no enemies, you start seeing old friends that vanish when you approach them, you start hearing gun shots and random pain screams, and you also gain -2 to strength, perception and agility, the fifth state is death, but not going to third person and seeing you turn into ragdoll but just getting you screen blurred and falling in first person and then you are dead. Of course maybe that what I said was too much (but hallucinations should be there when you are at fourth state of deprivation) and it needs tuning, but you see my point, these stats shouldn't just make you lose SPECIAL, that's not very immersive.

Ammo has weight, yes, I love it, that's really nice touch to make the game more realistic.

Stimpaks and radaways heal over time - This renders stimpaks useless after you get enough survival skill, but still, they shouldn't make you instantly healthy, so this is good.

Health and limbs will not regain after sleeping - I think it should be in the game by default, that's not very realistic to just take a nap and be all new.

Companions die for good - It's ok, I guess, but it makes melee companions almost useless, making Rex even more useless than before!

And that's my opinion, what's yours?

I love it. It's actually hard going back to non-hardcoe mode because I like the logistical challenges that hardcoe provides.

I love it as well, and love the ideas you brought. hardcoe mode is a must, but it also needs better implementations. basically "Too little meat on this bone". Meat was delicious, just need more of it.

Aside from the "needs", which I don't really like (the way they are implemented), it was something of a saving grace for the gameplay. I can't play the game without HC mode on. I used it on my first run and when I later tried to play the game without it, it just didn't work for me at all when items lost their weight, healing got borked, followers became immortal, etc. It was... sad to play that way when huge amount of extra "bad" got on top of the criticisms I already had.
