How massive will throat of the world be?

That was just the strip, when you think of New Vegas , you gotta think Freeside, Westside, The Thorn, Airport(NCR base), etc.

But yes the strip was a bit lacking.

Ye I did mean the strip, couldn't remember the name for that.... thing, the rest was fine and actually seemed more impressive than the strip itself

Thought so, It still is a nice sized game though IMO.

But back on topic, I think it will be easy getting 7000 steps.

Some parts will just be pasted and repeated, not to hard once you take it that way. So I think they'll take it accurately, I'm not worried that they could get the exact number of steps but if they can truly get that amount of steps at all. And what will be along these steps to keep us preoccupied?

Also I'm not sure wat exactly is at the tippy top of the stairs some kind of temple or burial ground or something? I haven't read up on my lore.

"This is the highest mountain in Skyrim, and the highest in Tamriel aside from Vvardenfell in Morrowind. The Nords believe men were formed on this mountain when the sky breathed onto the land. Hence the Song of Return refers not only to Ysgramor's return to Tamriel after the destruction of Saarthal, but to the Nords' return to what they believe was their original homeland. Pilgrims travel from across Skyrim to climb the Seven Thousand Steps to High Hrothgar, where the most ancient and honored Greybeards dwell in absolute silence in their quest to become ever more attuned to the voice of the sky.''

higher than the coulds...im hoping

That can't happen unless it's physically possible to reach the clouds, which I'm pretty sure it wasn't in Morrowind or Oblivion.

But it's hard to tell just how high it will be at this time, since we don't know the scale of the world of Skyrim, as of yet. The size that Red Mountain was in Morrowind is not relevant since the scale of the game world probably won't be the same. All I can say is, I hope that it's quite impressive, and feels like an actual MOUNTAIN, the mountains in Morrowind and Oblivion often just felt like big, overly steep hills. I think that those who say we'll probably have to climb the mountain at some point in the main quest, and I hope what we'll find out there will be something impressive, or it will be quite the let down.

The greybeards are shapshifting dragons actually

Has this been confirmed or is it just a theory? Because unless in some canon source it's stated quite clearly that the Greybeards are dragons, then you shouldn't say it like you're sure of it.

I wonder what rare artifact awaits at the top for me to claim.

Yeah me too, hope they add caves somewhere in the mountain, if climb skill is added in skyrim it would be so awsome to climb to caves high up in the mountain side :D

Big enough that when you have to climb it (which you will). Your reaction will be "But it's huge! It could take me all night!"

This. This this this. I want to think "really? I need to be up for college tomorrow. I can't spend four hours climbing your stupid mountain."

But then I will because I'll have actively anticipated Skyrim for about four years by the time I get my hands on it, and all other engagements will shrink in terms of importance.

That's actually not too far off. If I recall correctly it took me about 1000 paintbrush "steps" to get on top of white gold tower and that took two hours. Now, if you multiple that by 7 and subtract the times I missed the jump and had to re-load and me actually having to place the "steps" it would be about 4-5 hours probably. I highly doubt they would do that though.

The game didn't ask you to build a paintbrush staircase to the top of White Gold Tower though :P

Edit: four hours is a bit extreme, but two hours to climb one of the biggest mountains on Tamriel isn't too much of a stretch I don't think. There should also be a climbing mechanic reliant on strength, endurance and agility that allows high level players to skip out on a lot of the trek by scaling sheer sides.

I know but I couldn't help myself. :D I'm just saying by my math (which is probably incorrect) being able to just run up the 7,000 steps based on my experience going up 1,000 it would about four or five hours. Pretty ridiculous. Now, if it took about one or two like you suggest, that would be awesome. At least to me, cause I want to feel accomplished after I climb the highest point on Tamriel!

I think it will just be a large mountain (that is, if it's included in the game), nothing to write home about. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I've got my doubts. :)

I'm pretty sure it will be in the game as there is a village at the top of the mountain and its home to the Greybeards. What impact the Greybeards will have on the main quest is yet to be determined.
