I was in Yngvild before I started Thieves Guild and found Arondil's Journals. Vekel won't take them from me and I can't find any way of speaking to him about it. Any suggestions? I have even gone back to

a save before I was actually in the TG. Can't get any conversation going. So, no enchanted weapon, plus I am carrying around these stupid books. Any suggestions?

I have a feeling this might be one of the 'special jobs' you get after you've done enough local tasks in a given city?

No, I've done it that way before. Vekel's quest is his own, not a TG one. I had an objective of "Take the books to Vekel" once I had the complete set - do you? He won't say anything if one or more are missing.

Oh, sorry, I was mixing it up. In that case, if you've got all the books, it might be one of those nasty quests that bugs out if you find the items before being given the quest... I don't think there's much fix for them, though they seem to happen less often now I use the Unofficial Skyrim Patches.

Good point - I do run the Unofficial Patches, and tend to forget that some people don't.
