----------------------------------Introduction--------------------------------------
Welcome back to my Skyrim timeline shenanigans. For those who don't know, this is a long-running project of mine to create a timeline exclusively for the province of Skyrim. Originally I wanted to place the texts of the Aetherium Wars and the Holdings of Jarl Gjalund on a somewhat datable time frame. But very quickly it turned into an effort to create a timeline of the province of Skyrim that might help shed light on the nature of this province. After all, there is value to be found in stepping back from the detail and looking at the bigger picture.
---------------------------------What's New?----------------------------------------
A buncha stuff!
- The Aetherium Wars has a spot on the chronology! Following my inquiries, the ruggedly handsome and charming GStaff gave a authoritative answer:
What this means is that my first and preferred chronological spot for the Aetherium Wars and the reign of King Gellir is correct. If you recall, I favored this spot because not only did it allow Gellir to fit into one of the few early First Era slots where we didn't know the identity of Skyrim's rulling High King, but the century-later reclamation of these strongholds by the Dwemer coincided nicely with the period of Nordic decline following High King Borgas' death as well as the period of the Rourken clan's self-inflicted exile from Resdayn.
A dating of the "last invasion" of Tamriel from Atmora, from the 3rd Pocket Guide that I missed due to it not being in the Skyrim section.
New Elder Scrolls Online stuff, including the Reachmen Emperors, the Crown of Freydis, and Chief Yashnag's kingdom. This is still a work-in-progress.
The timeline has also been updated for all the eras.
Emperor Ami-El is introduced to the timeline, again thanks to a confirmation from GStaff:
-------------------------------How To Use-----------------------------------------
(Before the Ages of Man) - Sourced material.
1E 243 The Alessian Rebellion against Ayleids occurs. - An important or related event outside of Skyrim, meant to help give context.
{Earliest period for the construction of the Great Chantry of Auri-El (Gelebor’s dialogue).} - A soft chronological event. You mostly see these early in Skyrim's history, where we have no dates. This basically means that their spot on the timeline is hazy at best. They may have occurred before or after surrounding events, or concurrently.
Circa - "Circa" means "around" and is used by historians when an exact date is unknown but extrapolated. This event may be shortly before or after the given date.
No Date - Like "circa", we have no exact date for these, but neither do we have a extrapolated or related date to tie them to. However, these more-or-less remain chronologically correct in regard to the dated events around them.

----------------------------------Beginning of Timeline (for now)---------------------- Circa Merethic 600 – Likely earliest possible date for Ysgramor’s arrival on Tamriel (Frontier, Conquest, and Accommodation). Saarthal is an important Nordic urban center. Ahzidal is born. His magicka potential is realized and he is sent to train under elven masters (Ahzidal’s Descent). The Night of Tears, where Falmer forces sack Nordic Saarthal, occurs. Ysgramor and his sons flee to Atmora. Ahzidal travels Tamriel, learning from the Ayleids, Dwemer, Chimer, Falmer, and Altmer, mastering the art of enchanting (Ahzidal's Descent). The Period of the Return begins. Ysgramor returns to Tamriel with the legendary Five Hundred. The First Tale of the Darumzu Yngol Barrow is built (Yngol and the Sea-Ghosts). Ahzidal greets the Returned and offers his services as an enchanter (Ahzidal’s Descent). {Ahzidal is educated in the Voice and becomes a Dragon Priest (Ahzidal’s Descent). Ahzidal makes a pact with Herma-Mora (Ahzidal’s Descent). Ahzidal, perhaps betrayed by the other Dragon Priests, winds up on Solstheim, where he dies (or is sealed) in Kolbjorn Barrow (Ahzidal’s Descent).} {The Tale of the Jorrvaskr Whiterun is founded. The Second Tale of the Ylgermet Windhelm is founded by Ysgramor at the mouth of the White River. The Krilot Lok invades Black Marsh. ?Why do Redguards appear in this legend? Ysgramor adapts the Elven system of letters for use with the Nordic Language. Ysgramor dies. The Final Tale of the Chrion.} The Period of the Return ends, and the Period of the Twelve Legendary Kings begins. {Ysgramor's successors battle 'Aumriel' for decades near Hjalmarch. Aumriel is likely to have been a Falmer sorceress (Lost Legends of Skyrim, The Wispmother: Two Theories).} {Miraak, the First Dragonborn, is honored for his loyalty and wisdom (Dragon Aspect Word Walls). Miraak plots with Hermaeus Mora. This plot is discovered by fellow Dragon Priest Vahlok, who defeats him in battle. Afterwards Miraak was either banished to Solstheim (Tomb of Vahlok) or snatched away to Apocrypha by Herma-Mora on Solstheim (The Guardian and the Traitor).} Bromjunaar is the capital of Skyrim, and the center of power for the Dragon Priest order. Their growing oppression is cited as a cause for the outbreak of the Dragon War (A Minor Maze). {The Dragon War breaks out, initially going quite poorly for the Nords. Paarthurnax, Alduin’s lead lieutenant, supposedly under the command of Kyne, betrays his own and teaches the rebelling Nords the Thu’um. This turns the tide of the conflict. However, Alduin’s immortality seems an unsurpassable wall. The great Nordic heroes Galthor, Sorri, and Birkir – all tongues – are slain in their attempts to kill Alduin. Hoping to obtain a decisive victory against the cult, the Tongues develop a new shout called Dragonrend with which to harm Alduin. Hakon One-Eye seeks out the aid of Miraak in defeating Alduin, but is rejected. Felldir the Old seeks out an Elder Scroll as an alternative method. In a pitched battle around the Throat of the World, Alduin is drawn into combat, but still proves unassailable to the Nords, even with Dragonrend. After slaying the Nordic hero Gormlaith Golden-Hilt and gravely injuring Hakon One-Eye, Felldir the Old banished Alduin with the Elder Scroll through time and into the Fourth Era.} 1E 1 First Era begins with the Camoran Dynasty founded by King Eplear of Valenwood (3rd Pocket Guide). White-Gold Tower, of the Ayleids, seizes the opportunity and becomes an independent city-state from the Summerset Isles (Before the Ages of Man). {Earliest period for the construction of the Great Chantry of Auri-El (Gelebor’s dialogue).} The Period of the Twelve Legendary Kings ends, and recorded history begins. 1E 68 The last "invasion" from Atmora, consisting of two vessels carrying mostly corpses, makes port on the northern coast of Skyrim. 1E 113/143 – 221 High King Harald Hand-Free (founded Kingdom of Skyrim, relinquished his Atmoran holdings, defeated remnant dragon cultists at Lake Honnith, drama of Archmage Gauldur and sons, Archmage Geirmund of Windhelm) (Geirmund's Epitaph, Daynas Valen's Notes, Lost Legends of Skyrim, Skorm Snow-Strider's Journal) 1E 246 A census is carried out by the Nordic Empire, compiled in the Book of Life, keeps the first historical record of the settlement of Daggerfall in High Rock (A History of Daggerfall). The Aetherium Wars take place. High King Gellir reigns and conquers Dwemer 1E 355 Clan Direnni becomes the dominant power in High Rock, founding the Direnni Hegemony. 1E 358 Emperor Ami-El lends his forces to Skyrim, who attack the Direnni in the Western Reach of High Rock. Anti-Aldmer sentiment rise as Skyrim loses more and more of Greater Bretony to the Direnni (GStaff, Official Timeline) 1E 361 Alessians gained control of the Cyrodiilic Empire (Last King of the Ayleids) 1E 369 High King Borgas is killed by the Wild Hunt of Valenwood as he journeys south to pledge his support for an Alessian invasion of Valenwood. Circa 1E 452 The Moot selects Asurn Ice-Breaker to become the next High King. However, he fails to don the Crown of Verity, recently forged by Skyrim's clevermen to identify the worthiness of any High King nominee. In a rage, he and his followers decide to hold the Moot hostage until they named him the rightful king. Asurn is then challenged to personal combat by a member of the Moot, Kjoric the White, who defeats him and dons the Crown of Verity to become the new High King (The Crown of Freydis). Circa 1E 452 – 478/479 High King Kjoric the White (Leads Skyrim rebellion against the Alessian Empire under Emperor Gorieus, Battle of Sungard ends in Nord defeat). 1E 477 - The Direnni Hegemony conquers part of Skyrim (as well as part of Hammerfell). 1E 478/479 Battle of Fort Sungard (Nord defeat by Emperor Gorieus, High King Kjoric is killed) (Rislav the Righteous). 1E 500 The Isle of Balfiera is the sole remaining possession of the Direnni Clan. 1E 660 The Orcs of the Velothis Mountains, supposedly under their god, Mauloch, are defeated at the battle of Dragon Wall. 1E 668 The Year of Winter in Summer, or Sun's Death. Vvardenfell erupts, which in Skyrim is blamed upon the wrath of Mauloch. 1E 808 Redguards arrive in Tamriel on the Isle of Herne. 1E 980 The First Siege of Orsinium in the Wrothgarian Mountains of High Rock ends with the city's destruction. 1E 1029 Empress Hestra of Cyrodiil expands the border of the Cyrodiilic Empire to High Rock, and works to greatly improve relations between Skyrim and Cyrodiil. Circa 1030 Reachman King Faolan, or Red Eagle, temporarily drive Hestra's legions from the Reach of western Skyrim. Faolan's kingdom remains independent for two years before Hestra's legions return, besieging and defeating the upstart Reachmen at the Sundered Hills (The Legend of Red Eagle). The Middle Dawn spans a period of 1008 years. Circa 2200 The Thrassian Plague ravages Tamriel. 1E 2321 The War of Righteousness in Cyrodiil results in the final destruction of the Alessian Order. 1E 2703 The Tsaesci of Akavir invade Tamriel. They are defeated by Colovian king Reman Cyrodiil at the Battle of Pale Pass in southern Skyrim. The Akaviri Dragonguard, later known as the Blades, becomes Reman's personal bodyguard (Pocket Guide 1st Edition, Rise and Fall of the Blades). 1E 2801 Emperor Kastav orders the Dragonguard of Sky Haven Temple to take hostages from Markarth and Hroldan to ensure that their Jarls would fulfill their conscription quota (Annuals of the Dragonguard). 1E 2804 Rebellion breaks out in Winterhold, and the Dragonguard violates orders from the Emperor to help suppress it. Sky Haven Temple is cut off from its supply lines by order of the Emperor, but the temple's arrangements with local Reachmen negate the effects of the embargo. The Grandmaster of the Dragonguard supports their decision, on the basis that the Emperor's Orders violate the Dragonguard's Oath of Allegiance (Annuals of the Dragonguard). 1E 2805 The Tsaesci Kalien besieges Sky Haven Temple with his army after sacking Winterhold on the Emperor's orders (Annuals of the Dragonguard). 1E 2806 The siege of Sky Haven Temple is lifted with the ascension of Reman II. The temple provides the new Emperor with his honor guard during Reman II's first trip to Skyrim (Annuals of the Dragonguard). 1E 2809 The Dragonguard responds to reports in the east of a dragon. While signs of the dragon are discovered, the dragon elludes the Tsaesci (Annuals of the Dragonguard). 1E 2812 Work on Alduin's Wall at Sky Haven Temple begins with the blessing of the Emperor (Annuals of the Dragonguard). 1E 2813 Work on Alduin's Wall is delayed a bit after several craftsmen from a "western temple" are dismissed (Annuals of the Dragonguard). 1E 2815 The Grandmaster of the Dragonguard visits Sky Haven Temple with a Writ of Requisition under the Emperor's Seal to check on the progress being made on Alduin's Wall (Annuals of the Dragonguard). 1E 2818 Alduin's Wall at Sky Haven Temple is completed, a dragon is located and slain, and Reman II visits Sky Haven Temple to officially dedicate the wall (Annuals of the Dragonguard). 1E 2871 The dragon Krahjotdaan is slain by the Dragonguard in the southern Jerall Mountains (Atlas of Dragons). 1E 2920 Morrowind surrenders to the Reman Dynasty after the bloody Four Score War. Mehrunes Dagon destroys Mournhold before being banished by Almalexia and Sotha Sil. The Reman Dynasty ends and the Second Era is declared by Akaviri Potentate Versidue-Shaie. The First Era of Man ends, and the Second Era begins. 2E 184 The dragon Grahkrindrog is slain by the Dragonguard after slaughtering many in Winterhold and Eastmarch. His name was confirmed with the help of mages from the College of Winterhold (Atlas of Dragons). 2E 212 This year marks the last sighting of the dragon Mirmulnir. Sighted in the Reach, he would not be seen again until the year of Alduin's return in the year 201 of the Fourth Era - 1,317 years later (Atlas of Dragons). 2E 283 Rebellions break out across Tamriel (including presumably Skyrim), and Versidue-Shaie proceeds to forcibly disarm many local rulers. Over the next few decades, Versidue-Shaie manages to crush most rebellions, although the effort strains the Imperial treasury and ravishes many of the affected areas (History of the Fighter's Guild). 2E 369 The dragon Nahfahlaar's alliance with King Casimir II of Wayrest is ended by the Dragonguard, but Nahfahlaar escapes. 2E 373 The Atlas of Dragons, a glossary of Skyrim's dragons, is penned by Brother Mathnan of the Dragonguard (Atlas of Dragons). 2E 430 Potentate Savirien-Chorak and all of his heirs are slain by assassins of the Dark Brotherhood. The Empire dissolves into civil war and rebellions. This marks the beginning of the Interregnum. 2E 431 Logrolf, High King of Skyrim, is assassinated. Svartr, Jarl of Solitude, contests the legitimacy of Logrolf's daughter and sole heir, Freydis, and as a result Skyrim is split into two kingdoms: A western kingdom led by Solitude, and an eastern kingdom led by Windhelm (Crown of Freydis). 2E 431 The Orcish Kingdom of Orsinium loses its status as an Imperial Territory. Circa 2E 437 The High King of Western Skyrim, Svartr, is unable to quell Reachmen and Orcish forces that plague his kingdom. Yashnag's Chiefdom is established in western Falkreath Hold by Orcs fleeing High Rock (Orcs of Skyrim). 2E 467 Chief Yashnag is killed in personal combat by Hakkvild, the Jarl of Falkreath. With the death of their chief, Yashnag's chiefdom disintegrates and his followers flee (Orcs of Skyrim). 2E 541 Emperor Durcorach the Black Drake, the first of the Reachman Longhouse Emperors, is killed outside of Daggerfall during his invasion of High Rock. 2E 546 Jorunn the Skald-Prince is born to Queen Mabjaarn Flame-Hair. As the younger sibling to his eldest sister and heir-apparent Nurnhilde, he studies to become a bard at Skald's Retreat on the Isle of Gold on Lake Honrich near Riften (Jorunn the Skald-King). 2E 547 Ada'Soom Dir-Kamal, of the Kamal of Akavir, sacks Windhelm and attempts to invade Morrowind. He is defeated by Almalexia and Underking Wulfharth at Red Mountain (1st Pocket Guide, The Arcturian Heresy). 2E 570 Emperor Leovic of Cyrodiil, the last of the Longhouse Emperors, is overthrown by Varen Aquilarios of Chorrol. 2E 572 The Akaviri of Dir-Kamal assault the northeast coast of Skyrim. They sack Windhelm, killing Queen Mabjaarn and Princess Nurnhilde. Jorunn escapes to Riften with his life. He petitions the Greybeards to summon Underking Wulfharth from Sovngarde, which they do, and rallies the forces of Eastmarch and the Rift to defend Riften. The Kamal decide to bypass Riften's staunch defenses and enter Morrowind, unknowingly pursued by Jorunn and Wulfharth's forces. Together, the Nords, the Dunmer, and an Argonian war party defeat the invaders. Underking Wulfharth returns to Sovngarde, and the alliance between the three races persists as the Ebonheart Pact (Jorunn the Skald-King). 2E 579 The event known as the Soulburst occurs, beginning the process of the Planemeld as Molag Bal attempts to merge Nirn with his plane of Coldharbor. 2E 582 The Eastern Kingdom of Skyrim participates in the Ebonheart Pact, warring against the Aldmeri Dominion, the Daggerfall Covenant, and Cyrodiil under Empress Regent Clivia Tharn and her father Abnur Tharn. Molag Bal attempts to pull all of Nirn into his realm of Coldharbor through the use of his Dark Anchors (TESO Story). 2E 827 Hjalti Early-Beard, later known as Tiber Septim, is born in Anticlere, Highrock. 2E 847 The Battle of Old Hroldan takes place in the Reach. Falkreath's King Cuhlecain, in an attempt to unify Colovia, he needed to secure his northern border, where Nords and Reachmen had been fighting for centuries. Allying with Skyrim at the Battle of Old Hroldan against the Reachmen, Cuhlecain dispatches his best general Hjalti Early-Beard. Leading a group of Colovian troops and Nord berserkers, they breach the Reachmen line. A siege looks daunting, but at this critical moment Hjalti is revealed to be Dragonborn, shouting down the gate of Old Hroldan as a storm hovered over him. It is claimed by heretics that this was the Underking Wulfharth, who had come to the aid of the future emperor after hearing from the Graybeards that it was Hjalti's destiny to unite Tamriel (Arcturian Heresy, Song of Tiber Septim). 2E 852 The Battle of Sancre Tor takes place. Hjalti Early-Beard defeats the combined forces of Skyrim and High Rock at Sancre Tor in Cyrodiil. The captive Nord commanders and soldiers join Hjalti's forces after swearing allegiance to him (Legendary Sacre Tor, The Battle of Sancre Tor). 2E 854 Emperor Cuhlecain is assassinated by a Breton Highrock Nightblade (Heretics claim Hjalti himself). Hjalti assumes the throne and takes the Cyrodiilic name Tiber Septim. 2E 855 Tiber Septim is campaigning in Skyrim against Nordic warchiefs (Ice and Chitin). 2E 882 Dagoth Ur awakes in Morrowind. 2E 896 Tiber Septim completes his conquest of Tamriel by using Numidium. Wulfharth's soul is reportedly trapped in the Mantella to simulate the Heart of Lorkhan. Tiber Septim proclaims the beginning of the Third Era. The Second Era of Man ends, and the Third Era begins. 3E 38 Tiber Septim dies. 3E 67 Potema, future Queen of Solitude, is born to Pelagius Septim II and his queen, Qizara. 3E 81 Potema is married to Mantiarco of Solitude. 3E 97 Uriel III is born to Mantiarco and Potema. 3E 100 Mantiarco of Solitude dies, passing his throne to his 3 year old son Uriel. 3E 121 The War of the Red Diamond breaks out, with much of High Rock, Skyrim, and northern Morrowind backing Uriel III's claim to the Ruby Throne. 3E 127 The Battle of Falconstar in Skyrim ends when Magnus Septim is defeated by Potema. Word arrives soon afterward of Uriel III's death following his defeat at the Battle of Ichidag in Hammerfell. 3E 137 The Siege of Solitude ends with Queen Potema's death. Magnus Septim's son Pelagius is awarded the throne of Solitude by his victorius uncle Cephorus I. 3E 145 Jolethe Septim is crowned Queen of Solitude following her brother Pelagius' coronation as Emperor Pelagius III. 3E 247/268 Cephorus II, Nord and likely descendant of Queen Jolethe, is elected by the Elder Council to become Emperor following the disinheritance of Andorak Septim. 3E 271 Uriel V conquers Roscrea, an island lying between Tamriel and Atmora. circa 3E 313 Morihatha Septim, half-sister to Emperor Uriel VI, marries Jarl/Baron Ulfe Gersen of Winterhold. 3E 389 Jagar Tharn betrays Uriel VII, assuming his visage and imprisoning the Emperor in Oblivion. 3E 397-399 War of the Bend'r-mahk (Forces from Skyrim defeat the combined forces of High Rock and Hammerfell, conquering great swathes of territory, including Jehanna and Elinhir. Dragonstar is divided in half under two governments. Terrorism and guerilla warfare within the conquered territories would continue right up to the end of the 3rd Era. 3E 399 Jagar Tharn is defeated by the Eternal Champion and Uriel VII is restored as Emperor. 3E 427 The Bloodmoon Prophecy comes to fruition in Solstheim, and the EEC settlement of Raven Rock is founded. circa 3E 432 circa 3E 433 A force of Nords with supporting Orcish mercenaries commence hostilities with House Redoran and invade Morrowind. Nordic forces from Skyrim also seize control of Solstheim and attempt to remove the Imperial Fort Frostmoth from the island. 3E 433 The Oblivion Crisis occurs. The last of the Septim line is extinguished. The Third Era of Man ends. The Fourth Era begins. 4E 1 Refugee Redoran settlers, led by Brara Morvayn, begin settling in Raven Rock (History of Raven Rock pt. 1). circa pre-4E 5 Tel Mithryn is founded on southeastern Solstheim by Master Neloth of Great House Telvanni. 4E 5 The Red Year occurs. Fort Frostmoth is destroyed, and southern Solstheim is transformed into ashlands over the subsequent years. 4E 10 Potentate Ocato is assassinated, beginning the Stormcrown Interregnum. 4E 10 Bloodskal Barrow is discovered by ebony miners on Solstheim (Gratian's Journal). 4E 16 The High King of Skyrim grants Solstheim to the Dunmer. 4E 17 Skyrim endorses the ascension of Colovian warlord Titus Mede, following his conquest of the Imperial City. 4E 20 Refugee's Rest is decreed a monument to those Dunmer who sought refuge in Skyrim following the Red Year (Decree of Monument). 4E 40 Lord Hleryn Sathil, leader of the minor House Sathil, holds a castle in Solstheim, where he lives with his daughter Nirai Sathil and their attendants. 4E 58 Famed Skingrad alchemist Sinderion arrives in Skyrim to begin research on Crimson Nirnroot. 4E 65 Brara Morvayn, Redoran Councillor and mayor of Raven Rock, dies. She is succeeded by her son Lleril Morvayn. 4E 95 Lleril Morvayn escapes an assassination attempt by the Morag Tong. A coup against Redoran rule in Raven Rock is also discovered. House Hlaalu is revealed to have been behind both plots. 4E 98-100 The Void Nights, where Masser and Secunda disappear from the night sky, occurs. circa 4E 121 The Great Collapse occurs. A majority of the city of Winterhold collapses into the sea after freak storms assault its coast for nearly a year. The College of Winterhold survives thanks to ancient wards and enchantments placed upon it since its founding by Shalidor. The College is blamed by some for the disaster. 4E 129 Much of Riften is burned to the ground after a popular uprising overthrows and kills unpopular tyrant Jarl Hosgunn Crossed-Daggers (Of Crossed Daggers). 4E 130 The Bulwark, the great wall protecting Raven Rock from ash storms, is repaired by drawing on Lleril Morvayn's personal funds (History of Raven Rock vol. 3). circa 4E 134 The rebuilding process of Riften is complete following the uprising in 129 (Of Crossed Daggers). 4E 150 A small force of Argonian raiders attack Solstheim, but are driven off by the Redoran guard (History of Raven Rock vol. 3). 4E 170 Raven Rock's ebony mine shows the first signs of depletion. Redoran Councilor Lleril Morvayn again draws upon personal funds to keep the population fed. 4E 171 The Great War begins. 4E 174 The Reachmen of Skyrim's Reach seize the opportunity to break away from the Empire and found their own kingdom under Madanach (Bear of Markarth). 4E 175 The Great War ends with the signing of the White-Gold Concordat. Talos worship is outlawed throughout the Empire. circa 4E 176 Ousted Markarth Jarl Hrolfdir and the Empire organize a militia, led by Ulfric Stormcloak, to retake the Reach. The militia is promised free Talos worship in exchange for their service. 4E 176 The independent Reachmen kingdom comes to an end after Ulfric Stormcloak of Windhelm leads a Nordic militia to retake Markarth in what has become known as the Markarth Incident. The surviving Reachmen become known as the Foresworn, and they continue to resist the Nords through acts of terror and guerrilla warfare. Reach King Madanach, also known as the King in Rags, is secretly imprisoned by the Silver-Blood clan in an attempt to leverage control over Forsworn. 4E 181 Raven Rock's ebony mine is completely depleted, and the colony's economic focus shifts towards hunting and fishing (History of Raven Rock vol. 3). 4E 200 Ciecero, Keeper of the Dark Brotherhood, arrives in Skyrim. 4E 201 The Events of Skyrim.

Dwemer take back lost cities lost to the Nords following the Aetherium Wars.
1E 416 Nords driven from Morrowind
1E 420 – Rourken Clan in self-imposed exile from Resdayn (PGE1). Rourken splinter groups arrive and settle in Skyrim (Dwemer Inquiries Vol 1).

Comments, questions, and new sources are all welcome. I'm especially interested if any new ESO sources give new dated or datable information about Skyrim. Should you find something, please remember this thread!
-----------------------------------In Conclusion-----------------------------
Beth, as a little hint from me to you, it'd be nice if you gave us more dates every once in a while.
