A New Game, for a New Order

Post » Wed May 07, 2014 10:42 am

Hey everyone, this is my first post but I figured that the best way to get my idea out was to post in in a community that may have some interest. Anyways, I was thinking about how there hasn't been a good Star Wars themed game in forever, and I also realized the similarities between the story of a Dovakiin and a young Jedi growing up. So, I connected the dots and decided that there needs to be an open-world game similar to Skyrim that follows the life of a young Jedi (whom you create and name and such) who must learn to use the force and fight either for or against the Galactic Empire. This Jedi could buy different Starfighters to travel around the galaxy similar to how you can buy a horse to traverse Skyrim. Also, you could learn to be more effective with your Lightsaber, or other weapon of choice. You could make your own lightsaber, and also have your own home on some of the planets. Eventually, you would either need to defeat master Yoda, or Darth Sidious. Anyways, please leave your comments to this post because I contacted Bethesda and they told me that to raise interest in this game the I should post about it on various websites! Thanks everyone!!

I highly doubt that.
Bethesda does not have any access to the Star Wars license for video games. Disney and EA are the only companies that can currently make SW games.

Have you played Knights of the Old Republic yet?
It's not "open world" as how you describe, but it's a damn good RPG.

*plants some corn, soybean, and wheat seeds. The fertilizer in this post is strong.

Sorry, but there's no way a developer's going to say this, so you'll excuse me if I don't believe this statement.

They may read feedback, and in rare cases, make adjustments to a game based on the feedback, but as far as developers go: it's their game, not your game, something fans forget often.

Actually, I could show you proof of my conversation with Bethesda.

Bethesda might have replied, but I don't think they meant what you said.

You are probably correct, and I have edited this post to fit what is probably closer to what they meant.

Hmm, if they do that on the PS4 platform as well - i would seriously consider to buy it.

And something else. It should be big. I like big games...

Just as an FYI, this forum gets a decent number of threads from people with vague game ideas (Star Wars is a popular one), and nothing ever comes of them.

The question is; what are you trying to accomplish with this? I can guarantee you that every video game developer with the rights to Star Wars has explored your concept in depth, and there are probably a number of good reasons for why they haven't gone forward with making such a game. Just having an idea and spreading it really doesn't achieve anything.

Im feeling major some deja vu right now. IRC, the last "I have an idea for a video game" was an open world Star Wars game.

Like I said in that thread. It could work. But there will have to be some sort of limitations to the sandbox in order to pull off the right size of the galaxy (Far far away...)
