I went for a jog today; it svcked

Post » Fri May 09, 2014 5:48 am

Greetings, hoodlums, plebeians and beautiful people. Indeed, I decided to do some physical exercise this evening for a change. It was a pretty nice experience to jog along the fjord and encounter other healthy people while the scent of the north sea surrounded me and the gentle wind cooled me down. Or so I thought. After 10 minutes I started to get this burning sensation in my chest and I suddenly started to produce a lot of saliva. Then I got super nauseous and wanted to lay down and perish, but fortunately for me I snapped out of it. My broken spirit shattered entirely when an old man surpassed me. I ate plenty of food and drank water before I left, so I'm curious as to why this happened. Maybe it's simply my endurance that's [censored]? Well, hopefully it'll get better later on.

How do you guys feel about physical exercise? Do you exercise or do you live like a fat, lazy slob?

Physical exercise is pretty cool. I don't do it as often as I should though, and my body maintains its sixiness despite that, so it's hard to get motivated to do it.

I went for a walk for the first time in a while today. It was pretty fun. Then I tried jogging and within 15 seconds I could hardly breathe. :ermm: I want to exercise more, but running is lame. Despite that, I won't let myself become a lazy fatass, no matter what.

Physical exercise is necessary, even if I don't enjoy it.

It gets easier.

Honestly, it's hard to imagine not doing it now. I love the feeling. :)

I usually exercise 3 or 4 times a day on weekdays by going to the gym and during 30-40 minutes of cardio and 60 reps for my biceps and triceps. On weekends I ride my bike for at least a hour, but lately I been slacking due to school being almost done(Senior!) and getting some work.

I love to workout!≧?≦ I play tennis, Jog and even go to the gym when my friends drag me there((???)). Mostly though, I workout because I know I'm lazy and if I didn't workout..I'd be a Moby-chick.

As for what happened to you Moog-chan. Did start off by walking then Power walking then jogging? If you're endurance is [censored] then you need to start off slow and steady.

I'm the same way right now. I used to do quite a bit of lifting before I got my recent job.

Now I'm either too tired or too busy to do much at all, though. At the very least it's pretty intense, but it's not really a replacement. Hm...actually I do have a bit of time today...

I used to go for runs. Then I realized no one was chasing me, so I stopped.

You develop lots of saliva, too? I thought I was weird or something.

If you havent exercised for a while, it takes a few jogs for your body to adjust to this rediscovered work. It does get easier the more you do it. I dont really suggest eating n drinking "plenty" before a run though. Something light like an energy bar or something a bit sugary and a small glass of water would be enough if u must. Small glass of water is all i do and i save the eating for after.

The best times for jogging to me are in the morning right after waking up...not only wakes me up but makes me feel energized for the rest of the day. Otherwise i spend the day dreading about having to do it that i end up not doing it. Just wake up n get to it.

Did anyone tell you to start physical activity as tolerated? That's really important. It sounds like your body wasn't used to the physical activity, and there was a bit of oxygen debt going on. Saliva production is associated with nausea. Blood may have shunted from your GI to other parts of the body to better oxygenate them. Walking routinely and not eating crap is a start. I know I have to do that soon for the summer.

I absolutely hate it. I do 40 minutes of fairly intense exercise a day and it never gets any easier, even though I started 18 months ago. I've lost five stone during that time, which I'm really happy about, but I'll always hate exercise and it makes me really depressed, which isn't really a good start to the day. Hate.

When I am not slammed at work, I throw on P90X during the weekdays and bike for 4-6 hours on the weekends (barring weather).

I would jog more regularly, if my left knee didn't go bad in college. I can do low impact just fine, but high impact (like jogging) will injure me.

When you say you ate 'plenty' I'm guessing that means you ate a large meal before hand. It's advised that you wait and hour or so after eating, to let your body 'absorb' your food. Also, if you eat lots of bread and dairy products, these are mucus creating foods.

I'm not sure why people drink those 'sports' drinks before a workout, it's optimal if you drink them after a work out as they contain amino acids which aid in muscle recovery.

Also, it's quite important you stretch and warm up before doing exercise. Jumping jacks are quite popular as they raise the heart rate slightly but don't ware you out.

I know stuff like Gatorade really helps in the middle of my very long bike ride, especially on the way back after going 20-25 miles.

But yeah, protein shakes are for afterwards.
