Which puts you four steps away (at most) from the other living US Presidents and basically all senators and most members of congress. In the US, distasteful as it may be, very few people are more than three steps away from a national politician, and they have pretty much all met each other. That by itself completes the 'six degrees' for the entire country, at least.

There used to be a variant of this called "6 steps from bacon" in which someone would be 6 steps or less from Kevin Bacon. Someone would shake his hand, then his friend would know someone who knew someone else, who knew your friend, then you.
By using the same Logic, I'm two steps from Travis Barker. I shook my friend's hand that shook Barker's hand.
