how will the next-gen consoles improve FO games?

Post » Mon May 12, 2014 1:36 pm

Just talking about Fallout gameplay improvements that is possible in the next-gen consoles (Xbox One, PS4, maybe Wii U) as opposed to the previous ones (Xbox 360, PS3). Better graphics, or engine that can load more things faster with less physics bugs? Any comparison experts know? (only taking about previous-gen vs next-gen consoles, no console war between next-gen consoles)

IMO, more things in the same areas, more visual stuff, more speed calculation.

Maybe bigger areas.

I am not sure it will change a lot on the gameplay/writting, although.

I just hope that they will take their time and just not focus on shiny things.

new consoles have much more available Ram (512mb/256mbx2 compared to 5gb/5gb now) that's 10x more available ram to use. (3gb less for PS4/Xb1 because of the OS).

Dissapearing corpses, annoying loading screens, pop-in's, less AI in areas should be gone.

If the next Fallout still uses for every single room/area/whatever new cells to load then I don't know what they are doing with their time. Now they have the ram to dodge stupid things like that. For PC players it's even more exciting because we will actually see a huge step up in terms of graphics.

It would be nice it they could ehance the field of view.

Now, you could walk into the desert, and suddenly a building or a mountain appear just in front of you.

Even if they keep separate cells for location, it could be good to have a pre-render of other locations, that actually show what you should see from a distance.
