What if Beast Form was different for mer and beastfolk?

Post » Wed May 14, 2014 10:24 pm

This seems like it would be most fun for beastfolk, for example the khajiit, who could transform into sabre cats or something.

As for mer, most would have to have some sort of magical ability and form, not orcs though. Orcs would have to be the most savage of them all, with limb removal animations and the like.

Would you like the same?

Any ideas?

I think argonians would need 50 times the normal swimming speed and the ability to poison people.

That's an interesting idea. Somebody has "attempted" to make a mod kind of like that on the Nexus. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/10246/?

http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Lycanthropy#Types

While the form of a wolf is common for Men and Mer. It's extremely rare for Beastfolk, but still quite understandable that it's the most likely form a beastman/woman will get. Given that our characters live in Skyrim, where Werewolves are particularly found.

You also got Werelions in Elsweyr, which means that it's likely the most common form for a Khajiit. Same for Argonians and Werecrocodiles, who live in the Black Marsh.

However, Werelions and Werecrocodiles aren't common at all in Skyrim. So a Khajiit or Argonian who lives there would probably have a larger chance to become a werewolf than to become a werelion or werecrocodile.

No. You turn into the same kind of werebeast you were infected by, it's always been this way. But if they next game is set in a southern province, I'd very much like werewolves to be replaced by a different werebeast, more appropriate to the region.

By this mod's logic, human terianthropes would transform into apes. But they never do. This isn't realism, it's just "I want to play a big bad kitty" and faulty reasoning that cats are the natural opposite of dogs, so a Khajiit shouldn't turn into a wolf. Which makes no sense whatsoever.

Well, I don't like that at all.

*Update*

Maybe if they'd made the appropriate adjustments for gaining additional beast forms in game, it would work better. Actually, I prefer that idea.

I'd love to see different beast forms available, but more than this I would like to be able to interact with object while in beast form. I understand that werewolf hands aren't the most dextrous appendages, but it's annoying not being able to loot a body as a werewolf.

I actually like the fact that you cannot loot bodies in beast form.

This, very much this. While there are different varieties of Werebeasts, it always depends on the one you were infected by.

The only thing that doesn't make sense imo is an Argonian becoming a furry, warm-blooded mammal but I chalk it up to trixxy Daedric devil magic :P

There are other forms of lycanthropy in Tamriel, and they're not limited to race. Were-Lions, Were-Bears, Were-Boars, etc. Considering you get infected by Werewolf lycanthropy in Skyrim, it wouldn't make sense if you changed into a sabre cat or whatever.
