I'll just wait and see on this one.. Far Cry 3 was good but not that replayable.
I agree. Once I beat the game, there was little to do afterwards.
Also, I don't like how at the end you lose the wingsuit.
Looks like it could be a cool game. I enjoyed 3, but also agree it wasn't very re-playable. I still had a handful of outposts to liberate after beating the game and had to force myself even to do that.
But the island atmosphere was excellent and I really like the change up from typical urban or post apocalyptic shooter. I picked up 3 last year for $15 and i'll probably wait for 4 to drop to around the same price
I have yet to beat a single Far Cry game. I've enjoyed them all but I can never finish them for some reason. I hope they bring back weapon degradation from Far Cry 2. Really added to those intense situations where you're in an overwhelming shootout and your guns starts jamming.
Himalayas setting is interesting, particularly since I'm just finishing an intensive course on the region. Other than that, the flamboyant dude on the cover and the day one DLC kinda put me off. Particular the apparent tonal shift from 2, which is my favorite in the series by far. That said, with the geography of the Himalayas, the landscape could end up being more like 2 than 3 & 1. But yeah, the guy on the cover... they hit a jackpot with Vaas, but I doubt they can reproduce the whole quirky/scary villain thing quite so effectively. I'd prefer they went with a more "boring" character.
Could be interesting especially considering the setting. The environment in 3 was great and fun to explore hope it is the same with this one.
Agreed.
Also, the next game in a franchise coming just 2 years after the previous never inspires much confidence for me.
I actually started Far Cry 3 back up and started a new game the other day. I'm definitely not taking it seriously the second time around. What would've really made it interesting is if they had all the outposts you took out manned by your guys and then had random pirate attacks. They could've done it like Fallout 3 or Skyrim in that the outposts only get populated when you are in that cell. They could've even done a cell phone call telling you that the outpost is under attack and then you could choose to help secure it or not. That way it could've had a random chance to fall back to pirates.
Will it have Uplay on the PC version?
I have only played Far Cry 2 and that game had some weird design choices. The characters and story weren't very well developed and everyone seemed to have the urge to kill you as soon as you stepped out of the central city.
I liked the stealth, fire and gun mechanics though.
