New Vegas Corrupts My Saves Time To Time

Post » Fri May 16, 2014 6:39 am

As it states in the title. I got New Vegas and have been playing it, this has happened to me twice. First was no biggy because my saves werent far apart but the 2nd time I am very angry at and why no one has bothered to make a patch for it yet. The second time it happened I was level 14 at Nellis Air Force base. I got very far in the story line and when I went on today it would not load, it would sit there spinning the tops spinner and wouldnt load. Ive waited for hours upon hours for it to load. This has corrupted the save itself and the autosave. This wouldnt be a big problem if I had another save, which I do but it is back when I was level 6 and at Primm. I am not going to go through all that work again. The reason I am posting this is to get awareness of this (if it hasnt already) and see if there is anything I can do to uncorrupt or or something. Until then I guess buying this game was a complete waste of money.

Welcome to the forums.

This game is no longer being worked on. The team is on another project.

This is known issue and it is quite common for all Bethesda Games.

Rule number 1 Create a new game save on a regular basis

Rule number 2 The Auto Saves are known to cause corrupt game saves or adds to a greater chance of a game crashing when loading into a house or a loading zone. It is best to disable this feature.

You could possibly try loading an older game save and then loading into the old one to see if it will load.

Ah thank you. And I presume that the game they are working on is Fallout 4? I know we can all hope for that! Sorry if I sounded hostile in my above post, I was quite mad at the time. It worked too! Thank you so much!

As Erzherzoghans points out, having an auto-save become corrupted is not all that uncommon with Bethesda games. It happens occasionally with every title they've released, at least as far back as Oblivion. It's a quirk of the game engine they use. If you want to be sure your game doesn't end up being set back, you should get in to the habit of making regular manual saves, rather than relying solely on auto-saves. And while there has been no official announcement of their next title, the common consensus is that it will be Fallout 4.

You did not sound hostile. I can understand that you felt frustrated.

Like Nicho stated there has not been any word what the next project is. I hope it is Fallout 4 but who knows.

Glad it was working now would be a good time to make some extra saves.
