Little WIP opening

January 31,2078 1931 hours

Location: Fairbanks, Alaska University Fallout Shelter ARK

Four months eight days since the bombs fell changing the landscape and life as an American citizen was forever changed. True the times before the bombs fell weren’t easy with the food riots, civil unrest in Canada, the Sino-American War, and other things but it was life and every American from newborn to old man lived their life as best they could. Some lived in poverty and others in decadence with all their whims fancied.

You woke up, washed, got dressed, ate breakfast, went to school or your job if were a high school slash college graduate and employed, eat lunch, return home, eat dinner, go to bed, and repeat the next day. For me it was going to High School in Fairbanks, Alaska with the occasional advance course taken at the University and then rinse repeat until he graduated with his fellow students. Once graduated if the war was still ongoing and according to his ASVAB scores off to officer training and then the front-lines commanding a unit or platoon of soldiers fighting the Red Chinese or their conscripted troops if he enlisted against his parents wishes. Maybe he would be picked up by West-Tek or another government defense contractor working in their R&D labs. Thankfully he had had close to two years of schooling left before making a choice of going to college full time, enlisting in the military if the draft failed to pass Congress, or hooking up with a local girl and getting a job for time.

Now he and a few close friends from his advanced classes were locked inside waiting for the blasted door locks to cycle down allowing them to escape into who knew what radioactive nightmare awaited them which was why he was checking over the limited armory that the university dean had allowed to be stored within along with the most recent Advanced Radiation Suits and plenty of Rad-X and Rad-Away.

The latter seemed most likely considering what had transpired three days to a month afterwards when sirens wailed just before the bombs fell and his small group of classmates took refuge in the nearby fallout shelter off of the inner lunch yard that had recently undergone another expansion and renovation since its construction during the Cold War with the old Soviet Union. Katara and Korra, cousins and members of a local Inuit tribe and the foreign language professor had found a bunk before engaging in premarital activities that resulted in all three becoming pregnant which continued on until the two girls missed their periods. Another test for Miss Samson the Language Professor and he found out while cleaning and reassembling an Assault Rifle dropping the spring in shock.

"Not even old enough to smoke and I'm going to be a dad!" he mumbles to himself whilst finishing the loading of another clip of ammo adding to the already impressive amount stacked and stockpiled on the table.

"Mom and Auntie would probably be pleased how you've made them grandmothers Michael!" Korra says from the nearby terminal continuing her schoolwork for Advanced Trigonometry and physics using the University installed Records Information Database Server Network.

"True and all our parents and tribe members are probably holed up in or near the tomb that your family has built since the Gold Rush!" Katara adds as she reads from an tech pad of what else was stored in the Universities fallout shelters and around Fairbanks during the last war census the state compiled.

"According to this we have the parts needed to build PIP-Boys in Shelter 4a near the Technology building and a Machine Shop was added to O'Tooles garage on fifth street!" she continues thinking of a few side projects.

"When the door locks release then can see about fixing the damage to this shelters HAM Radio tower and contact the Tomb and nearby shelters to see if anyone else survived!" Selena Samson Language Professor states placing the last set of plates on the table for that nights meal.

The four move to the small family dining table in the conjoined kitchenette dining room eating from the slightly larger portion that their small family were allocated for that day before heading into the king over-sized bed to sleep.

0327 hours

The door locks separating the interior quarantine clean room and the pathway to the outer blast door unlocks allowing the survivors all thirty seven students and three professors of University Fallout Shelter Alpha Romeo Kaleidoscope 13 access to the outside world and the unknown.
