Microsoft stops charging devs for patches

Post » Sat May 17, 2014 7:20 pm

That's not true. It was a self-imposed policy. They had a "bad" policy for years and then changed it. They didn't overcome a technical limitation to no longer charge for patches, it was purely a bureaucratic one.

If there was a company that charged you to use the public restrooms and then 8 years down the line stopped charging for restroom use, that is not something worthy of applause. They are simply back where they started. That is not progress.

They saw the light, and have done what is right now. And people complain about even that. No matter what MS does, people [censored]. Its ridiculous. As I said, they could cure cancer, and people would [censored] about doctors going out of business.

Who cares? Microsoft certainly doesn't.

They may release buggy games but at least they'll be able to patch games more frequently. Gotta take the bad with the good.

I mean, I still won't support Microsoft anymore in the videogame market but at least they're not penalizing devs anymore to fix their game.

Yikes, that is a terrible idea that I could see them potentially doing. I would totally take advantage of the 24 hour XBL cards and just use that time to download all the patches. :P

Why are you so vigorously defending Microsoft? In every damn thread I open about Microsoft, here you are... do you own a partial amount of Microsoft's stock or something? Honest question. Because honestly, we're all consumers here. If someone doesn't like what any ol' corporation is doing then they have a right to complain, yes? Please say yes.

I think this is pretty darn good news. Yay!

It might have something to do with the fact that not everyone likes hearing constant [censored]ing and moaning even when something good happens. I frequently defend Microsoft on these kinds of things as well (despite hating many of their business practices) and I'd do the same if it was any other company.

Too be fair, no one is really cheering because we know why they made the decision. In order to be competitive. They want the incentive of Indie games.

Now what is this Kinect 2.0 crap mentioned in like the 2nd or 3rd post?

This exactly. Everyone BLATENTLY ignores the good that MS has been doing lately. I already stated that I do not like the kinect issue, but once again, MS changed it so you can turn the thing off.

On the flip side everyone BLATENTLY ignores the fact that sony is money grubbing with the PS4 as well. Free online gaming? Not anymore.
