It was about the missing snow flake mesh.

It is because of the user account control system in later versions of windows , you can disable the UAC in the control panel , or bypass it by installing Morrowind outside your program files folder. The UAC causes a lot of problems with a lot of games and programs so disabling it or installing stuff outside program files folders will work for those too.
I already did that. I was able to play morrowind on windows 8 until I added mods to morrowind and then got that snow flake mesh error.
Firstly i would recommend that you uninstall Morrowind . If you have successfully de-activated the User Account Control system then you will be able to re-install Morrowind and other games and software in their default locations and you won't get problems when you attempt to install expansions . updates. mods etc
if the UAC is still active then you will need to install games and other software outside your program files folder because that folder is affected by the UAC
Alternatively you can try a more long winded approach from the stickied thread at the top of this forum.
Tried that and it worked for a second and loaded and everything but when I click new game to start a new game it freezes and crashes. then I tried to play oblivion and oiblivion did the same and the only mod I have on oblivion is Better Cities (aside from patches and knight of the nine expansion pack)
Have you tried installing and then running the games in compatibility mode? I would suggest you change it to windows vista or xp as windows 8 isn't fully compatible with older games.
