I recently joined the Dawnguard and Gunmar sends me to destroy a master vampire in a place called Hrodulf's house. I had no idea this was in Solstheim until I looked it up - I haven't even been to Solstheim yet! I just don't understand why he wants to send me way over there to kill a vampire, I thought the Dawnguard was formed to deal with the vampire threat in Skyrim. Why do they care what's going on in Solstheirm ?? It's like Gunmar just wants to get rid of me or something . Anyway, is this normal, for the DG to send you to Solstheim?

Once Dragonborn DLC is installed, the Radiant Quest system will include locations there. Confused me at first, too.

its the way Radiant Quests work, it will pick any location at random that meets certain criteria

I can see why it was irritating if you haven't been to Solstheim yet. Such a hassle. It wouldn't bother me if I already had it discovered, though. I like Solstheim.

I didn't know that's how Radiant Quests worked. That's kind of cool.

I'm jealous; not once has any pre-existing faction sent me to Solstheim for a quest.

A dawnguard quest kidnapped a skall villager I barely remembered and hauled his behind all the way from Solstheim to a cave near Riften so I could rescue him from a master vampire....that was one motivated for revenge vampire!

Same thing happened to me but with the Thieves Guild radiant quests. I got a job from Vex to break into a house in Raven Rock to steal valuables, and I was like "why on earth are you sending me across the ocean just to steal a jeweled goblet?....it doesnt make sense....I mean the fee to travel there probably costs more than the cut I would get from getting that goblet". When I do go to Solstheim, do I need to avoid entering towns/villages at dusk to reduce the chance of vampires killing NPC's like they do in Skyrim?

Vampire attacks don't occur on Solstheim.

Correct me if I am mistaken, but the majority of Skyrims Random Encounters Don't happen on Solstheim, instead Solstheim has its own...

There's one or two of those Thieves Guild Radiant quests that you can't complete if you get sent to Raven Rock, due to a scripting bug. All you can do is report back to Delvin or Vex and request another job.
