New character & PS3

Post » Sun May 18, 2014 10:58 pm

So I went to create a new character... Just to change things up a bit from my usual Battlemage... I wanted to just hack and slash so I created an Orc warrior grunt with two handed war hammer ....
But what the heck... It saved over my Battlemage! Can it be? It has taken me almost 2 years to just get to level 30 ish! I spent so much time , never riding a horse and scouring every building and room and landscape I encountered to take in all the game.... Just to lose it. Very frustrating and I am pissed.
I honestly don't think I can go on ... And start anew.
Has this happened to anyone ?
I am at the point I just want to consider waiting for the next one. I had so much more world to investigate too.

Ouch! When you create a character in PS3 it is important not to save over that first "Prisoner" save because the maching remembers that save slot and will save over it whenever you start a new game. My advice is to create a different profile for each character. You can make profiles on your PS3 without a new account or email address that are only used to seperate save files for each character. Also make multiple saves of each character. I know that won't help you now, but maybe in the future.

My very first TES character got deleted by accident after about 40 hours of play, so I can feel your pain. But two years, yikes! Still, starting a new character can be fun in itself. Good luck.

You can do that in PS3 too. Forgot to mention that in my prior post, but you can back up your saves on a USB stick or on the cloud (but you have to pay for the cloud service). I keep so many saves in different profiles on my PS# hard drive that I never bother to back them up on USB anymore. But it is easy to do.

It sounds like you're relying on auto save...never rely on auto save. I'm not sure if it's the same as Xbox but if so pause the game, select save game and choose a save slot (new save at the top creates a new file or you can overwrite an existing save in the list).

Thanks for the replies... But yea this hurts. Not sure if I feel like creating different ps3 profiles though ... And I have a Mac, not a PC... I actually enjoy playing it on the console in the comfort of my family room with my flat screen and couch :)
Just the idea of starting in river wood , then white run at the beginning is so daunting,,, sigh

I feel your pain, my girlfriend did it to me with her character. Now she has her own account on the ps3.

A couple of posts have gone away. Both one to recommend playing on a different platform and a response to it. If someone makes a thread to ask about something specific to a certain platform there is never a reason to go into the thread to post they should play on a different one. It's really a bit rude at the least and flamebaiting or trolling at it's worst. So...don't do that.

That said, there is no reason I can think of to ask about creating a character specific to one platform. Just talk about creating a character without mentioning one platform or excluding any. Character creation is done the same and the game is the same (controls and mods excluded) across all three platforms so...

Please use an already open thread about character creation or make one that doesn't specify platform. :)
