I went through bleak falls barrow like that on legendary with HUD off and it was quite a challenge. especially the swinging axe traps and the draugr archers.
Try it on legendary and see if you can make it through a dungeon without being killed.
I move my camera to that top-down view once and awhile, but I've never been through a whole dungeon like that. It might be interesting.
I've never played GTA, but I'd think playing a whole game with that view would feel a bit awkward.
We have Red Dead Redemption for that.
On topic, I attempted doing this in Fallout 3. Wasn't very pretty results.
I have ran the camera form that view on occasion, while outside. I couldn't take the constant zooming in and out as it was automatically adjusted by the contour of the ceiling., if it was inside.
While outside it will be brief. Like searching for an enemy to loot that has fallen in tall brush of the open tundra North of Whiterun.
I have engaged in combat from that view, but it was only with melle. I couldn't imagine doing that with magic or archery.
I absolutely loathe isometric ( top-down ) gameplay. Amazing games, like Divinity 2 Dragon knight Saga, were completely ruined when they returned to that style.
Still, I am very happy that Beth maintains the adjustable camera distance and 1st to 3rd person view.
Not like that, but I have used played Skyrim as an isometric rpg. [like diablo, titan quest, torchlight, etc]
I have done that view just for fun, but I think it was only in Fallout 3. I haven't tried it with Skyrim yet.
Get the right angle and you got the view similar to the original Fallouts
