There is a MAJOR difference between being arrogant, and being insane, genocidal, maniacs. EVERY race is arrogant to some extent, have you played Morrowind? The dunmer in that game were INCREDIBLY arrogant beyond belief, but very few of them were evil in any way.

And as everyoen here is pointing out, not all Altmer are Thalmor. That is like saing all Germans were Nazi's, or that all Nords are recist, bigoted, stormcloaks.

I agree, all races can be quite arrogant. If anything, I think the wood elves or the orcs would maybe be the least arrogant, but even then there will always be people within that tribe that fits the arrogant description.

When I read about Altmer culture, they seem to want to look as much like their ancestors, the Aldmer. And they rever them and constantly strive to follow their ways. Does this mean that arrogance will unfluence the culture? Probably, but it's a very ambitious and devoted culture, without a doubt.

Only thing i hate about the Altmer is their snotty British accent.

I just had a thought...Does anyone actually know who's in charge of the Thalmor? Or what kind of government system they run?...I feel like if they had a dictator or Emperor at the center of it all we'd hear of it by now...But they certainly don't sound like the republic type.

The Dunmer are by far, the most intolerant of the Elven races. Possibly even the most intolerant of all races.

My guess is that it's probably a council of leaders and given Altmeri longevity it's likely they were the same ones who revived the Dominion too.

Ancano is still voiced by an American. Only the generic male Altmer have authentic accents.

Elenwen's voice actress is British and Ancano's voice actor is American.

My second play through was an Altmer who I designed to be the antithesis to my first playthrough which was a Nord warrior. My Altmer was supposed to be a dark mage, but my style is to go with the character, but make the character... It turned out to be simply an anti hero, more chaotic than actually evil. My only "dark" character who didnt join the DB and instead destroyed it. Once i forced him to be evil. I got bored of him. He was simply a High Elf version of Neloth if I had to put it more bluntly

Nonetheless, being arrogant prats is pretty much staple Altmer territory. It's part of their culture to believe that they're the only ones who still retain the glory of the et'Ada. It's fine if you want to appreciate that. I find it kind of silly myself. After Convention, the only way to go was forward, not "everyone hold still til we figure out how to get back to where we came from."

The Dunmer are just more badass. And realists. I love it that there's an in-game reference to Dunmer calling the Altmer sissy elves.
