I don't get why people marry their housecarls. I thought they kept their "Yes, my thane" dialogue?

for PC players I believe the unofficial patch cures this.

I do notice that after marrying Erik the Slayer, he tells my character when dismissed that he will meet her in Rorikstead if she needs him. Even though they own Lakeview and he goes to lakeview

This is specially annoying with Mjoll. She says "I thought we were getting along well. I'll go back to Riften" if you dismiss her even if you are married to her and live elsewhere. Grrr.

A good idea is to hit http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Marriage and browse through the options till you find one you like.
