Try roleplaying.

You could try role playing. Design a character before playing him/her. Give your character a history, and ask yourself questions about him/her. Why was he/she trying to cross the border? What are his/her personality traits? What does he/she like and dislike? What about his/her family life? Did he/she suffer any losses? How old is he/she?

Like previously stated, role play. If you start out with a specific build in mind, lets say a thief, then the obvious choice for skills would be that in the thief. Then if say around level 40-50 or so, you rewrite your characters story, giving your character reason to join the college and dabble in magic. That way with an ever changing story, it will keep you interested and you can reach your goal of level 81.

But most here (myself included) will tell you that we come up with a story and when that story is complete, the character gets retired, regardless of level, whether it's level 81 or 20.

To be fairly honest skyrim is way to scripted, to decently roleplay. if i am somewhere and i would like to explore that place then i would need to watch out because if there is let's say like a master vampire inside there i am dead even if i play on easier diffuculty. so i don't think roleplay is the best option mainly because u just can't go everywhere where u like.

???

you can go almost everywhere whenever you like.

There's just a few quest locked areas.

then you have not seen the screenshot thread on this very forum if you ACTUALLY believe it is hard to RP in this game.

Also, not really, there are some area's that are quest locked, and a select few that have a leveling range that is difficult for a really low level character, but you basically CAN travel and explore anywhere you like. It is one of the, if not THE. defining features of the Elder Scrolls series.

Yup, role play.

If you find your doing way to many things and then just losing interest in the whole mess then pick certain things instead. There is no need to do everything with one character. Focus them, channel your efforts towards certain goals.

But role play is key. Create a background for your character and a set of rules you will follow for them. Are they eager to help everyone? Or just do certain things. My hunter character for example avoids bandits and interior locations unless she has no choice. But my warrior character. Promise her a pouch full of coin and she'll go take care of that bandit problem. or delve deep under the rock in some old tomb looking for stuff of value.

Try RPing, but if you're not into it it'll only make things worse and you'll be bored by your character sooner than he'll find his first sword.
