I do not believe so. the only way to rename them is be at an enchantment table.
Well honestly I never looked to see if you could name something without an enchantment. Never tried so I could be wrong. *goes off to take a look*
And no you can't. I tried. Selecting an item at the table but not selecting an enchantment or gem to use, there is no Rename option. Just tried.
Instead of Scimitar... Curved Sword. Curved. Sword.
Without the power of PC, you cannot re-name anything w/o enchanting.
I'm on pc and I'm also curious how to rename my weapons. I know I can just open CK and create a custom named sword, but that's pretty tedious and I want to do it ingame. Any mods out there or a particular console command?
There does not seem to be, from a forum post that came up from the Nexus forums, it is a lot harder than it seems to be to get right.
Yeah I just looking into that earlier.. it's all internal and not editable in the CK.
Technically you could just use a petty gem and enchant with a very small value and then rename the weapon. You then never recharge it afterwards. Only annoying thing is you'd get the message to the effect your weapon is empty every time you hit an ennemy with it. The message popping up in the corner all the time could get on your nerves. Plus your weapon would have a glowing colour also, which would be weird a bit.
can only be done with a mod however even tho its not Bethesda made in elder scrolls online you can name forged weapons at least you could in the beta not sure about the full game. could be writing on the wall for Bethesda allowing it in elder scrolls 6.
