NOTE: No spoilers for those who haven't seen it
NOTE 2: I had to list every single grade from an A+ to an F (people's different opinion)
NOTE 3: I will add more to this thread in voting options later on in the future

I really enjoyed it. I saw it with a friend and we both enjoyed the fighting ( though there could've been more ). I personally didn't care for the labored inclusion of an American family conveniently placed in Japan and how the story was focused purely on this family. None of the characters were very compelling or memorable, save for the character played by Bryan Cranston and I credit that simply to Cranston's immense acting ability. Overall, Godzilla was the best character in the movie, and his first appearance in it, where he's clearly seen, is jaw-dropping. I actually had goosebumps when Godzilla was around, he was done very well, he feels like the noble, misunderstood monster he's always been.

Spoiler
I just wish they'd used known monsters, I was excited to see the first MUTO look somewhat similar to Orga in the head region but that was it. The enemies were fairly unknown and better monsters could have replaced them.

Overall, solid. Much better than the last attempt, back in 1998. 'Zilla actually looks like himself to boot.

I've been a fan of Godzilla since my childhood, and I have to say, this film did Godzilla so much justice in comparison to the poor attempt that was the 1998 film. Seeing Godzilla appear again looking near similar to Toho's Godzilla and sounding just like him was just fantastic. What I care about most is that they got Godzilla right and it restored my faith in the US having a go at Godzilla.

Godzilla aside (strange enough to say that in a Godzilla movie), the movie was good. It had the usual moronic moments in disaster movies where the characters will act stupid and continuously stare at the monsters instead of running, but I enjoyed it. Two issues I had with this film were the characters themselves and a little too much focus put on them. The characters in the movie seemed too one dimensional to really care about them, save Bryan Cranston of course, and I suppose Ken Watanabe. When I say they had too much focus, I refer to the parts where Godzilla is making his appearance but then the film constantly cuts back to the characters and its so annoying, especially during the final fight where it is interrupted so much by the characters. Godzilla movies aren't necessary all about Godzilla and they've always had some sort of focus on the characters, but I think this movie really over did it.

Spoiler
It also svcks that Bryan Cranston's screen time in this movie is cut short when he is killed off rather early. It's probably not wise to kill off the only actor people care about, but we got stuck with Kick-Ass. I agree with the LoneRanger as well. I was okay with MUTO but I would have much preferred they used classic Toho monsters. I thought a monster like Gigan would have been great here. I would hope that if they plan on doing more Godzilla films they do something for the fans and bring in some favorites. Gigan, King Ghidorah, Mechagodzilla, or even Destoroyah.

I enjoyed it, way better than the 1998 film. But I have loved Godzilla since I was 2 or 3. I decided to go with my brother instead of friends because they wouldn't understand my fascination.

It was pretty good though. Too much focus on the wrong monsters and human characters. The last 30 minutes or so is great though. It includes all the good parts of a Godzilla movie (except Mechagodzilla :P).
Also did anyone else see the easter egg to a classic monster? I won't give it away even though it isn't that exciting.

It was alright. The special effects and the monster designs were really good, but those were the only really good things about the movie. The story felt contrived, and the only character with any depth to it is that of Bryan Cranston.

Spoiler
Who dies halfway through the movie, leaving the viewer with a bunch of one-dimensional cardboard characters that I didn't care one iota about.

I was especially disappointed by Ken Watanabe's character, because I think he is a great actor. Sadly, he didn't have much to work with.

I guess I am something of a unicum on the internet, since I like the 1998 movie much better.
